Fixing my K5 impulse buy

My impulse buy 84 K5, definitely need help.
The steel lines were a mess so I thought I'd go with push lock, these are the 5/16" fittings for the transmission cooler lines, the one on the left is 15/64" ID, the one on the right is 11/64" ID and they have the same part numbers. Three out of the four are larger but the parts store couldn't source a matching forth one. :dunno:

Those look like Parker brass fittings if that might help you run some down

I should of order them online, they would of been 1/2 the price, the right ones and matching.

Yeah I'll put the larger one on the transmission and and order one more for the radiator. If I wasn't so dam particular and wanted it to look like something the PO would do I'd put a regular barbed fitting with a clamp beside the push lock. :haha:

OMG! The end I took the picture of is by the transfercase, LoL. I'll Check it out after I get some other stuff back together. Thanks!

Ok, so is this cable made for a different type of attachement at the transfercase?

The boots were on when I took them out of the box, the drain is on bottom of the boot, shit rolls down hill and I can read the writing on the shock when the tires are on the dirt. :screwy:

Interesting. It doesn't make a difference, but in order to read my 5100 stickers I had to put the bodies on top. :dunno:

I also skipped the boots entirely. No use trapping water and salt in there by the seals. If I lived in a dry place I'd think differently.

Probably broke off, when i replaced mine it was just plastic but the repro was metal, surprisingly

Yeah, the metal nut isn't very strong. If you use channel locks to remove it, it's easy to crush. The easiest answer is to just buy a new speedo cable. They're very cheap (Summit or Amazon), and a new one should turn more freely than an old one.

Not to beat a dead horse but that was my initial thought, that they installed whichever direction to be able to read the sticker correctly.

A new sending unit should give the fuel gauge accurate information without the plastic tray beating the crap out of the sending unit float.

Before and after pictures of transmission crossmember. The fuel gauge seems to work fine and I started it for the first time today. :saweet:

I smiled when I took it out of 4x and the high beam light turned off :haha:

Like I've said many times, I don't fish, hunt, go to the bar (much) or watch humans play with balls but I do hang out in the shop.
