Fixing my K5 impulse buy

My impulse buy 84 K5, definitely need help.
If it would turn an exit before the bumper probably be less chance of getting caught on something, with the hitch 10in below the bumper probably not a big deal.

I’d cut it about where you got the red line if it were me. Just because i think it would look a bit better?

Regardless nice job!

I drove it home from the muffler shop yesterday, the muffler sounds good and can hear the motor miss fire. I'm thinking if it was electrical or vacuum it would be a constant, Probably check out the plugs and cap first,

The K5 didn't come with a door key so I took the lock cylinders out of the parts suburban and had the rear window switch keyed to match.

I got distracted by nice weather, it's time to finish this project. I replaced all the hoses, thermostat and it was leaking antifreeze on the way back from the muffler shop so it getting new radiator and water pump. The radiator that was in it looks like it came from a boneyard.

I removed the tint from the rear glass, does anyone know where I can find information on converteing a rear gate glass from manual to electric, like were to mount the motor, switch and route the wires :1zhelp:

I connected the blue wires together that probably went to the latch and caulked the harness to the bottom of the gate, ordered new guides for the glass. New radiator and water pump are in and filled, new windshield is next week. I'm thinking what's left is finsh the gate when the glass guides get here, clean up wiring and vacuum lines under the hood, new wires, plugs and cap, put dash together after windshield is installed and order registration. :woot:

It's blistering hot out and the AC in the shop is working great, the white truck is rolling nice with new kingpins so I figured it's time to start on the K5 again. Easy to get distracted in the spring. The local body body shop gave me this. Probably not how GM did it but I like it better than blue.

. I don't really want to cut a hole in the dash for the switch so it'll probably go under the dash or in the ash tray.

Everything seems to be working fine except for the transmission is sketchy like a automatic :dunno:, it leaks out the vent and the RPMs go up a little between second and third.

I deleted the mystery switch that had to be on so it would start, left it on for couple weeks and it didn't drain the battery.

Yellow and purple are the neutral safety switch. Only sees power in start, perfectly fine to splice to them together but just make sure you're in park or neutral before turning the key.

It only starts in Park and OD, the linkage in the column will not let the key roll in rest of the positions. I was going to say gears then I remembered it doesn't have any :eek1:. Maybe it thinks OD is neutral and shift linkage needs adjusted. It does make sense that it's a neutral safety because of the way it tested. :waytogo:
