I have to agree with British Slave on this one.
I for one regardless of the beating I may take here am a huge fan of Chip Foose and his work. I love the full blown custom stuff, the resto mod stuff and the all original stuff.
Let's be honest, I'm a car guy and gearhead and dig it all. Of course I like some more than others but that's the beauty in being able to be an individual and have an opinion. I don't like every build I see but I respect the effort and ability of each and every person that makes the effort to build what they love to their taste and in their own individual style.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chip this year at SEMA and he is just as cool in person as he is on the show. And no I didn't meet him at his booth but at about 11 o'clock at night while we were all waiting for our vehicles to be pulled up from valet. The best part, he came up and introduced himself to us and asked us where we were from as soon as he heard us talking about him. To top it all off when his truck pulled up it had an exhaust leak; he turned to us laughing and said it's a header leak, it goes away when it warms up! He's just another one of us that's made a living doing what he loves.
As far as school goes, I don't know any one person with an associates, bachelors, masters or doctorate degree that doesn't need REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE to learn the ins and outs of a job or career once out of school. If you can jump into any job without any experience and run wide open with no experience then you're a bad ass...
On that note, can't we all just get along?
