Foose

Yes, watched it this weekend, theres Muscle Car, Trucks, Xtreme 4x4, and Horsepower. They are pretty decent shows, I mean its alot of work edited out and only the interesting stuff, but thats tv for ya. Xtreme has some cool a$$ stuff most of the time.

Speaking of wheels, I know we kinda changed subjects, but I saw this on the teddy bear wheel search page posted earlier. These are some ghey wheels:

that's seriously creepy that something like that would actually be produced....

that raised edge, black moto metal look is what I freakin hate...

sheep meet bandwagon...

I have to agree with British Slave on this one.

I for one regardless of the beating I may take here am a huge fan of Chip Foose and his work. I love the full blown custom stuff, the resto mod stuff and the all original stuff.

Let's be honest, I'm a car guy and gearhead and dig it all. Of course I like some more than others but that's the beauty in being able to be an individual and have an opinion. I don't like every build I see but I respect the effort and ability of each and every person that makes the effort to build what they love to their taste and in their own individual style.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chip this year at SEMA and he is just as cool in person as he is on the show. And no I didn't meet him at his booth but at about 11 o'clock at night while we were all waiting for our vehicles to be pulled up from valet. The best part, he came up and introduced himself to us and asked us where we were from as soon as he heard us talking about him. To top it all off when his truck pulled up it had an exhaust leak; he turned to us laughing and said it's a header leak, it goes away when it warms up! He's just another one of us that's made a living doing what he loves.

As far as school goes, I don't know any one person with an associates, bachelors, masters or doctorate degree that doesn't need REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE to learn the ins and outs of a job or career once out of school. If you can jump into any job without any experience and run wide open with no experience then you're a bad ass...

On that note, can't we all just get along? :D

While I may not like the vast majority of his stuff. This above statement is what I have heard from lots of guys. He is a cool guy to meet and always seems interested in other peoples stuff.

I have some mad respect for the guy. Just like I really hate Donks but there are some guys out there who are really making primo donk builds. Everything done correctly and very high end. I hate those things but I have some serious respect for anyone who can build something that is high quality.

I remember the days when self respecting hotrodders thought low profile tires and lot's of rim was ghey...
ya know what? it's still ghey.... I blame MTV and rap... :ignore:
While I agree with you in general, I believe it's all in the execution. For example, my vette below:

I can appreciate a stock, classic muscle car like the rest but I took my vette build as the opportunity to build the car of my dreams :)
Building a car is like building anything else - just because you bolt a bunch of high dollar parts together doesn't mean you won't end up with an expensive turd.

I dont like Foose designs and am so sick of all the wheels he makes. But that is a sexy vette.

a vette is a bit different, the body lends itself to that more.. as does a Viper and some others...

70 Cuda or Chevelle? f*ck no...

I saw a 1966 or 67 firebird at the storage facility last week...didn't have a camera with me...next time I go up there I will take my camera...body looks nice from a distance...looks green

I would pay GOOD MONEY to see a 1966 firebird or camaro since they were first introduced in 1967. :haha:

I had a guy once tell me he knew where there was a 1966 Chevy II convertible for sale, I quickly told him i'd give the guy a million dollars for it (a convertible 1966 Chevy II was never made).

I too am not a fan of the low profile big rim (donks) thing. I can however appreciate and admire the work that goes into the rest of the vehicle. The vette is sweet!!. Similar to low riders or putting a truck in the weeds, chopped top and such. Not something I would do but the fab work to get that done takes talent and I can look at the mods involved and incorporate some of those ideas in my build to accomplish what I think looks cool.

That Vette is the exact type of look I was talking about. I bet when that thing is finished it will handle like it's on rails. I even like the dark colored wheels on that, just looks mean. Fill us in on the other details, engine, trans, suspension work, brakes....

Oh, and the rear tires look backwards. Please fix. :waytogo:

Saw this at the Hot Rod Power Tour. A lot of tiger stripe in the paint, but I dig the look if the paint would have been shot better.

that Nova looks stupid as he!!... even the orange Camaro looks pretty bad..

I don't expect anyone under 40 to have a real understanding of where I'm coming from...

I've said it before in here, I don't know what area's you grew up in, but in my high school, nobody gave a shat if your muscle car could turn when you pulled up at the street light...

you wanna go drive windy mountain roads, ya bought a Porsche, or even a vette... which only the rich guys had anyway... we had 25 to 30 badarse hotrods in my graduating class, and not one was a vette... no high school kid in my day could afford that, unless daddy was rich... GTO's, Cuda's, GTX's, Firechickens, Cutlass, Chargers, etc, etc where the norm..

But goin quick/fast in a hopefully straight line can get boring...

I agree, I dont really care for the look, but I would much rather see somebody out there beating some old iron,(and being competetive) than guys bolting on $$ on to new stuff and thinking its cool.
