Ford towers

I have so many other things to do before I worry about bumps. I think I have it set up for 5-6" up travel, 8-9" down which should be plenty for my driving and springs...for now. I will be adding bumps and limit straps eventually. I just have a shelf 5'x2', piled 2' high of stuff in boxes labeled 'balzer parts'. That's what I call it when I'm not so happy with it.

Well, I went with the plan to use the existing upper shock mount and attach it to a higher up bracket. It's not perfect, since I was making it up as I went along, but I think it'll hold together. Not worth starting from scratch to fix it. The bracket is made from 1/4" 2x6 tubing and will be held on by two 3/8" and one 1/2" grade 8 bolts. I intended to have one come down from the top too, but I can't get access to the top of the frame with a drill.

Paint still drying. I'll post pictures mounted soon. Extra holes are from when I changed my mind about the design and was too lazy to start over for weight savings.

Okay, got them installed. Right at 27" eye to eye, which is the most I could do without hitting stuff. I'm a little nervous since I have almost no clearance left to the AC housing, though it's just plastic. I assume it has some give before something is damaged.

Hard to get pics with where the mounts are hidden.
