Around 6 up travel and they cone with brakes and such on them buy you just remove themAt least you'll save weight that way....Can you order them without brakes?
I was looking at your picts...How much up travel are you planning on running?

That's actually false I'll be running my 17s found a few guys running them that make wheels

I'm talking to conner on the wheels already ive seen these pictures from him and I got the narrow set

Damn this is badass. If I ever get the money to upgrade from stock 3/4 ton axles I would go to axletechs. Plus If you shop around you can get a set of axles, drive lines and a t case for the price of a custom built dana 60. Axletechs got way more beef than even the best 60 ever will
I agree with some of what you say there is allot I would've done different if I had these axles from the start but the 17 wheels are actually really reasonable they are the same as you would spend on steel wheels and a diy bead lock kit 225 a wheel but again allot to change now then mid buildAnd they are also about 4 times the weight, plus then you are stuck with running 20" rims and your tire selection goes down for a good balanced tire IMO (unless you want to spend some money on custom 17" wheels that only some are making). Everything has their drawbacks in this sport. A built d60 is easy to package and when something brakes you can either choose from the wealth of aftermarket supply for them, or go down to the local parts store and get what you need. I'm not saying AT4000's isn't a really sweet axle, because they are, but just because it's cheaper (right now) doesn't mean its the best way to go for everyone. I honestly feel like you need to build a rig around the axles if going AT4000's to make them really work with the rig...trying to swap them into an existing rig that is kinda setup already is pretty difficult unless you plan to change A LOT. Just my $0.02
In this case he is still very early in the stage of building so swapping to the AT4000's shouldn't be a big deal and his wheelbase will be long enough that they should work good

I haven't heard about the flipping your taking about I was just going to build steering arms and go from thereThat is a lot of good points you have, if I had the cash to do it I think I would stay with the stock 10 lug rims, they have back spacing that makes such a wide axle more manageable, and I know rhe pitbull growlers come in a 20in rim and from what I've seen they do pretty alright. The price tag makes me wanna cry though.
To the OP, do you plan on runnin the front steering with the knuckles set up the way the are stock, behind the axle that is? Or are you going to flip them. If you flip them you get a shit Ackerman angle that can be corrected. Some guys on pirate4x4 have done it, I think skipped_link is one of the screen names of a guy that has done it.
If you've already answered this then you can ignore my question and tell me to go re-read lol
I hear ya I'm learning my self don't hurt to askI was just curious in how he was going about it all. I am too broke to afford these but I'd like to learn all about them that I can from the people that are running them. Wasnt trying to be a bother
Deleted that post, I wasn't trying to call anyone out & I was not referring to any one post in particular. just don't want to see someone discouraged from building a rig the way they want. Even if it does mean going backwards a few times. What I love about CK5 is the positive attitudes so please take anything I say lightly. I never mean to offend. That being said, I'm not very smart & can offend without meaning to. Anyway, back to axles & lugs & cool stuff! Mercia!

.............Is this thing going to ready from Rausch Creek this spring? That's the plan along as work stays busy like it has beenI saw it. Wasn't that bad......This coming from a generally negative person myself
I've been hearing "You should not do that" since I started working on a Jeep back in the early 80s....Most of the time they were right, but sometimes they weren't. It's a lot easier to get information now a days with the wwnet thingy. Back then it was word of mouth or "I saw it in a mag"
Most people on here are pretty thick skinned and value others opinions.
I try to keep my opinions on how people are building their rigs to myself. Unless see something really unsafe....You know the whole nun/orphans/puppy fire thing.....Besides, who knows.....It just might work.
Anyway, enough of all that.............Is this thing going to ready from Rausch Creek this spring?
