G-body search

I may be completely out of touch with reality, but with the obvious problems that one has, $3500 sounds awfully steep. It's one thing if it needs some TLC, but it's missing a fair bit of trim, the entire "plastic" nose is junk (as is the bumper IMO, since they decided to run screws into it, whether visible or not when the screws are pulled), and while those rear mains leaked due to the rope seal, for someone to mention it makes me think it's worse than just a drop or two. A leaky Olds 307? It doesn't get much worse than that lol, unless it doesn't run.

Also, that LOOKS to be a 3 speed. Which would be a TH200, and I believe that means it won't be a Salon. Not sure which way to go anymore, I generally like keeping vehicles as stock as possible, but realistically adapting a 700R4 is a better idea than the 200-4R, and I doubt anyone will recommend keeping a TH200...I guess if a 307 suits you and you can leave well enough alone, the TH200 might be fine.

6.0/4L80E , I just want a decent body and interior to start with .

I want to say that should make it easier to find one, but I think the days of plentiful g-bodies for cheap are gone. The one you linked would be decent if it weren't for that front end and questions regarding damage from an accident. Oh, and the $3500 price lol. I hate vinyl tops, it's always been somewhat hard to find those cars without them, and having the buckets/console shift/tach cluster are nice features, although those shifters are generally junk. They look better than column shifts IMO, but they are about good to go from Park to Drive, and that's about it. But for a driver, that's all you really need.

That's not a bad price for that car. Sure it might have some bigger door gaps. But you said it yourself. G body's aren't as plentiful as they once were

And .........it’s already in Alaska . Rust free New Mexico car .

3500.00 does seem a little steep I’m going to go look at it this weekend.

So the Vette is out , title issues . Original owner died car is in probate . Dirt bag son was trying to pull a fast one .

What does it cost to get a car up there? Sorry if that's been answered, but I suppose that has to be factored in as well

But I dont see convenience being a valid excuse to overcharge if the car is worse than it looks. Those "frames" (damn near unibody) are pretty flimsy and it doesnt take much to whack them out of alignment. A really thorough inspection, taking a long time, helps find those flaws that you otherwise find after you buy it and get home lol.

You still can get them dirt cheap. They still suck.

I have been looking for a dirt cheap one for a long time. Someone find me a dirt cheap one lol. Only things I can find are 5k and up. Not alot of vettes around here.

I'd really like a C4 too but I'm gonna Vette cart that.

Gus that looked weird at the fender to door gap too.

There was one sitting down the road from my house for the last 8-10 months for 3500.
Decent shape. L88 hood.
Finally disappeared about 2 months ago.

I actually was starting to get tempted. The my chevelle came along. So yeah I guess I'll take that instead.

Vettes were the first sports type car I ever laid eyes on as a youth, so they have always held a special place for me. I was like 10 and convinced my parents to take me to a car show. There was a black C3 sitting there gleaming with side pipes. Been a fan ever since

He still has tons of parts for them , I would love to be into them but it’s just not my thing . I gravitated more towards 4x4’s and Mopars .

Would it be an option to get the Vette, then clean it up to flip on a G body?

Vette is Not gonna happen ,it’s got title issues .

Original owner died , one of the sons is trying to sell it ........long story . I’m not interested in dealing with that mess for a car I don’t really want anyway.

A diesel shop by me that we use for work has like a '79 vette for I think 4k. Might be cheaper. It runs but the right side has some fiberglass damage so it needs work.
I just saw a nice looking '94 vette on FB for $3500 the other day too.

Honestly, a C4 Vette is the worst looking Vette ever made. And I like Vettes. They suck to get into and out of if you are taller than 5'6". I've driven a few and even with an L98 they move out decently, but the ergonomics are horrible. I'm fully behind the idea of building Vette-Kart's out of them for sure. 80's era plastics all over the inside are strike 2 in the list of problems with them. If it's been stored outside at all the plastics explode with cracks. Strike 3 is the early C4's all digital vacuum fluorescent instrument cluster. Utter garbage. I cringe at the shop if anybody asks about them.

C3's are shape I like, but they are not cars for big dudes. C5's and later are more big dude friendly.

To keep this thread totally hi jacked ( sorry Gus). NO Corvette is built for a guy like me. I'm not that tall but short stubby legs and a long torso. Broad shoulders and a bit portly. Shoot no sports car is built for guys like me.

I know you said no four doors but this ones pretty much new still. https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/4986675?ad_cid=10
