I actually could have used the gun case.
It was airline rated, and big enough for my 7mm mag.
But he's been one of my dad's top 2 best friends and a close friend of our family since the mid eighties.
I figure just because I inherited my dad's things, don't mean I'm entitled to them. Lol.
Most of my cases are soft, Ray needed a hard gun case, I had 3 of them, (2 from dad), and I gave him the best one. :waytogo:
Dad would have given it to him if he still could. So I did too.

Learned more than I thought from that man.

I looked at that one then went with a used snap on. Let's us know how it cuts rivets. Not rusted out Ohio rivets either
 
Hadn't even thought of cutting rivets with it lol. I'll have to try that.
I'll probably stick to the plasma for that though.
 
Mine looks visually identical and has done probably 50 diff jobs at least. It does have trouble on sterling pinions.
 
Don't have it yet..... But I'm gonna bid pretty hard on this little dude I think, at my grandpa's estate auction on the 14th.
I played with it all day yesterday getting setup.. I like it lol.

Well, I decided to try a pair of the Knipex pliers. Picked up a set from Lowes to test out at work. They give us Channelock at work and I've had great luck with them but folks rave about these Knipex brand stuff.

After two days, I'm not sold on them yet. With just the few times I've used them, the grip strength seems lower than my 420 Channelocks and they are not as easy to get adjusted. I'm gonna give them a fair shake but so far, I'm not so sure they're gonna be "all that".
 
The knipex alligators are awesome in my book.
After getting used to them I'll never use channel lock brand again. My boss insisted on them where I started my electrician apprenticeship. Been using them 25 years now.
 
I have and use both. You have to get used to them. I have the cobras in 7, 10, and 12 inch, and they grip really well.

I guess I should have tried to get the Alligator instead of the Cobras.

I'll play with these for a while and maybe try the Alligator.
 
Grip wise they aren't a whole lot different. But I don't like the push button slide/lock deal of the cobras.
I don't much like the cobras myself. The alligators, I've set them on a 3/4" pipe, gripped it tight, lifted myself up off the floor, and let go of the other side of the pliers without falling. Just my palm pushing all my weight down on the one side of the pliers was holding me up. Channel locks won't do that.
