Got any cool tools lately?

Not necessarily "cool" but a good tool none the less. I've always appreciated a quality tool and have found myself wanting to upgrade from my early 2000's Cman wrenches to something a little nicer so I purchased this set of metric Flank Drive Plus wrenches from Snap On. I still need to order a 21, 22 and 24 and then eventually I'll replace my SAE as well. Anyways, maybe someone here will appreciate it.

I got my first sets of Flank Drive combo wrenches from Snap On back in 1990 and of all my wrenches they are still my go to choices - great set !

I want a set of metric Flank Drives but just never spent the money. I bought my SAE set 30+ years ago and they’re worth every penny.

A good buddy of mine whose father was a SO salesman back in the day has a ton of old Snappy, Par-X and Blue Point tools of all types. He probably planted the bug in my ear years back and ever since I've been wanting to buy em all lol. I do have a bunch of sockets I've bought over the years but never any wrenches. I can't wait to use them, especially the open end to see if they really are all the hype.

Well, for what it's worth, I bought these on Ebay for quite a bit less than you would get them off the truck.

The Flank Drive tech works well, as it should. They’re not magic wrenches - meaning use a boxed end when required but the F/D’s are definitely worth it.

Yeah, that’s where I get all my stuff. I don’t turn wrenches for a living so I don’t ever get to go on tool trucks.

Damn I miss the weekly Snap On and Mac Tools truck visits !!
Remember ole Mike McCaffe ( this is for John ) ?
He was the best Snap On salesman I have ever met.

I got a lot of cool stuff from Mike, he was the one that hooked me up on my wrenches. I bought regular wrenches and didn’t like them so he traded me for a set of the then new Flank Drives.

I got my first spindle bearing removal tool from him at dead cost because neither he or his customers knew what it was. lol

I love the flank drive + tech. Get a slighty rounded fastener and it'll grab.
Youll love those.
They used to make them in xl. I have a fee xl in sae and metric.
Reg lenght complete sets sae snd mm

I always wanted a set of XL F/D combo wrenches but never got them - I just made do with sets of XL double boxed end angle head wrenches instead.

I think one of you fine fellers needs this!

Sometimes a simple tool makes your life a lot easier. I just picked up one of these.

1733316072074.png I thought I had a smaller one, but couldn't find it in the toolbox. I debated replacing a couple of links on the snowblower chain drive because it was jumping off the sprockets, but I ended up buying 10' of #40 chain at TSC, which would replace this at least 6x over. Glad I went that way because the old one was clearly a little loose/stretched. What failed was the rollers on the master link, so I made the new chain without a master link. It's just so clumsy breaking/making chain with a socket and vice or hammer.

What do you need a snowblower for, does it even snow up there? :rotfl:

Does it even stop?

That's the 60" the sxs pushes. It has its own engine on board. I keep my old 20hp garden tractor as a backup with a belt-driven 45" and janky home-made cab (it cuts grass in the summer). For pathways and the Hoth trench system behind the house I have a 23" 5hp track-drive. A couple/few winters back I was down to just the 23" and taking shifts it took over 4 hours to clear the driveway. Of course, at that point it might be time to start over. No thanks, gotta have options.
