GsxrMike's build thread...Frostbite 2011 Pictures are in!

yep, defrost turns on ac if you have it.that way it can get rid of the moisture.so it has a major drag when its on.robs the engine of at least 10-20 hp.or more if the pump is going bad.pics look good and looks like fun.lot of mud and slickrock.4 links definitely look to be in your future.you can try bigger center pins or stronger ones and if that doesnt help you know where to go with it.with coils you will flex like crazy.

Yes, defrost does turn on the A/C compressor, but it shouldn't effect performance noticeably on a properly running V8. On a John Deere tractor it causes about 1 horsepower of parasitic load. I have dyno'ed lots of them, and we tried turning on the A/C several times to see if it had any ill effect. It never did.

done again

Well fellas, I've been working about 80 hours a week but I finally got some work done. I drilled out the springs for some 7/16 center pins, installed new shims, zero-rates (moved the axle forward 1.5"), new ubolts, new chunk bolts, and redid all of my tranny mount/crossmember crap.

When I was taking everything apart I broke off one of the chunk side bolts in the 60. We tried everything to get the broken bolt out but no luck. I had my machinist cut me a jig to bolt down on one side and had a 17/32 hole on the other so I could drill a straight hole and then tap it out. It worked great!

I also broke a bolt off twice in the tranny/tcase adaptor where it mounts to the crossmemeber so I drilled it out and tapped it for 5/8" bolts and then welded a piece of 3/16 steel plate to my tranny mount to stiffen it up. I then welded a piece of channel to my crossmember because it was starting to crack because I took so much material out of it.

This should get me a couple more runs out of the old girl before I have to redo something else.

If anybody wants pics of anything let me know.

And Shane, if you read this, I want to go back down to KRP asap. Hit me up!

Oh and everyone that is intrested, I have a party on the 3rd of July at my house, it is huge every year so anybody that wants to come is more than welcome. I will have two kegs and lots of liquor and possibly some dynomite. Shhhhh.......:haha:

So I ordered my beadlocks from inner air today, he said they should ship in about 6 days. I also ordered a tbi adaptor as I got an entire tbi engine w/ everything I could ever want for $100. I also stopped the the pnp the other day and got a set of winstar fans so I ordered a thermal fan switch kit for those.

My brother and I are going to try and go out to carnage canyon in colorado next month and I gotta get all this crap done first.

I got my beadlocks installed, I hope I never have to do that again! It was a major pain in the ass.

I have my throttle body rebuilt and installed and the wiring harness is pretty much done. Now I just have to install all of the sensors and hook everything up. I ordered a new fuel pump and fuel filter but I forgot to order a regulator.

good job Mike, plan on winter wheeling?
How bout some pics of the beadlocks?

They are inner air locks so there is nothing to take pictures of except the extra valve stem. I hoping I get everything done in time for frostbite 2011.

I'm actually debating on going... It's always so crowded to where it's almost impossible to get anywhere. If it wasn't for the chance to win a bunch of free stuff it would be a no brainer...

Damn flexy nice sig pic,

If you aren't going to frostbite then I'm not going. How long have they been doing it? Maybe everybody is sick of how crowed it is and nobody will go this year? Lol, fat chance but you never know.

Well you know... :D

Well if that's the case I'll go, especially if we do some trading. Not sure how long it's been going. I do know it's gotten bigger and bigger every year.

I guess time will tell, I think that if my schedule will allow and the weather is good then I will plan on going. That is of course if I get my blazer done before then.

Thx man! It was kind of exciting to get in, I ordered 10 of them so I can give them out for Christmas but really I just wanted to show off. Kinda funny my k5 looks nothing like that now.

Well I've got all of my tbi stuff installed on the outside of the cab, just gotta finish all of my wiring on the inside and try and start it. I've got a question for the fuel injection gurus. Can I run a bypass fuel pressure regulator before the throttle body and then run a single line to the throttle body? I eliminated the stock fuel pressure regulator so I was thinking of running a fuel pressure gauge off the stock return port on the throttle body. What does everyone thing? Let me know if this doens't make sense and I will draw a picture.

Here is the only pic I have so far.
