"Hardcore" 89 (Black and Blue). IT RUNS, DRIVES, AND STOPS. BUILD ON HOLD

Thanks!

In materials I am nto sure money wise since I had all of it. I've used prolly about a square foot of 1/4" plate, but reused a lot of it from my existing center section. I have used right about 17 feet of tube so not too much really. Prolly about 6 more feet to finish the last two tubes. I'll be into it for around $100 when I'm done. :waytogo:

Uggghh well I finally bit the bullet and started on the exhaust. Broke 2 manifold collector bolts. Got them drilled and soaking in PB Blaster. Hope I can get them out tomorrow  but it is all removed, and I don't think it will be too hard to build this new Y-pipe with the pieces I have. Gonna keep both stock down tubes and maybe a portion of the 3" where it curves up to where the cat used to reside ;) More new 3" back to the muffler then a turn down.

Kinda how it will be layed out. I am gonna try and build my own 2 into 1 piece from the 3 adaptors and some 18ga. We shall see :)

My exhaust was just like yours and this is how I had it done when I put my headers on:

Cool. What kind of mufflers are you going to use? Cats?

Just the one that I already have. Flowmaster 50. No

Yup thats about how mine will run too. Crossover right in front of the trans pan then into single 3" to the muffler.

I have been trailering it for about the last year. Once I got the 40's the street manners went to hell plus the loss of my mirrors and the lack of mudflaps attracts the LEO's :dunno: I was also told that my bumpers are too high.

i forgot you that there is a lift law up there. how hard does your crew cab work to pull that thing? you must be coming up on the 6000lbs mark on the k5.

Yeah some crap like 27" to the front bumper 29" to the rear. :sign9:

It works pretty hard. Just a mild build on a TBI 454, but it weighs 6600 lbs by itself plus 7+ of the K5 and the trailer. Cruising down the road isn't bad, but hills and starts are sloow.

Y-pipe is done. What a PITA! I almost gave up and bought my own 2 into 1 adaptor, but ended up making one. I dont enjoy welding thin metal at all and it required a LOT.

Should have it bolted up tomorrow so I can add one more piece of 3" then the muffler.

Then I can finish my bumper.

Wheeling Sat! :waytogo:

Ok finally started installing this thing tonight. Got it done all the way back to the last piece of 3" then the muffler. Not quite as tight around in front of the pan as I wanted, but it should be good. I have very little uptravel in the front so we shall see, but at least I won't drag it on the ground anymore

Its probably not the freeest flowing design with the non mandrel bends, but it has to be better than the dented smashed cobbled together thing that was on there before.

There will be about 18" of 3" then the 50 series flow about in the stock location. Managed to use the stock hangar just aft of where the cat used to reside.

View inside my homemade collector. Should work better than grafting two pieces of 2.25 together.

how close is it to the driveshaft, looks like maybe 4" of uptravel in the first pics, and then it looks much better in the last.

also dont worry about not having a mandrel bent exhaust. i highly doubt a 210hp 350 is going to notice. otherwise it looks pretty good for not using a bender.

Yeah my motor is stock so..

There is prolly 4 or 5 inches between the shaft and the tube. I have about 3-4 inches before I hit my bumpstop. I imagine if it ever does touch it will be very lightly.

Where you going Saturday???

Finished getting the rest of the pipe and muffler on today. Little bit louder. Still nice and quiet at idle, but its a bit more raspy which I kinda like.

All right done with the repairs and on to the upgrades! :D

Got the last tubes notched and tacked on to the bumper. Ready for final welding then add a fairlead mount and a bottom plate to the center section.

I was going to wrap the upper bars around, but liked this look better, and much easier to notch LOL
