Heavy's HK5

LOL...you know how it is...depends on what Uncle Sam has me doing during that time frame.

uncle sam has you going to UWHARRIE haha.
that's why I cant in july darn Uncle Sam..

so April/June is the time frame now..

Primered the dash this afternoon. Now to finalize the color scheme.

The color choices I ordered are white, gray and hammered black. My dash is already white on the lower metal portion and a gray dash pad. I like the white dash look so I was going to do the main body white and the gauge cluster gray, panel to the right of the gauge cluster white to blend in with the dash and the panel on the passenger side I was up in the air about white or gray. Decisions decisions.

Got the old dash unbolted, ripped and cut out.......

Doesn't look like much seeing it on the ground like that. :dunno:

A little embarrassed to show this cause I wish I could blame it on the previous owner but I cant. I take full responsibility of this mess. Adding dual fan switches, (2) 4x6 LED lights, 12" LED light bar, car alarm w/ remote start and door unlock and a few other luxuries, installing these with the dash in place created a spiders nest of wires. Gonna fix that with the dash install. Have some goodies in the garage to make it organized.

Got plans for the padded dash...?:whistle:

LOL...Probably going to keep it. Its in relatively good condition and may have a need for it in the future. Ive been getting hit up about it on FB already. If I change my mind, I'll let you know.

Cool...love what you've done with your rig. I bet those springs ride nice. wish I could afford a set.

Then again if the O.T. holds up...:pimp:

Thanks. The springs are really nice. Havent had much drive time on the so far, having a bit of pinion angle issue so there is some wobble action going on. Waiting for some shims from Kert to arrive. Im looking forward to flexing them out and see the difference.

You got yourself a clean looking Suburban....I would love to get one some day.

Thanks!

I'll be taking some time after the holidays to go through it & see what exactly it may need or already have.

It ran just wonderfully the 3 hour trip from Raleigh to the house. Only used 1/4 tank averaging 70. Henry said it wouldn't go into overdrive unless it was "going really fast". So I kept it in drive until I get that sorted out. (700r4)...

I suspect the t.v. cable and/or a gearing issue with the 33"s.

Great deal for $1600

Hell yeah, that's a great deal!! :waytogo:

If its geared high, it may the reason for it not going in OD. If its the TV cable it would have shift issues before it got to OD. Is the 1st to 2nd shift really quick or seem to overly drawn out? Could be the indicator for TV cable issues. If the shifts seem quick between shifts, that's bad...as you may know.

Thanks!

Working on the dash today....

Did a bit of mock up, sans water temp gauge...still in the rig hooked up (mechanical gauge). Going to cut a slit in the position for the temp gauge to keep it as modular as possible.

Notched the gauge opening so the temp sensor line can be slipped through and take off and left in the truck if I have to take the panel off/out for work under dash.

Installed the dash in the truck....

Don't mind the dirty steering wheel

Gauges mocked in....

Worked on the wiring for the gauge panel. May not be perty but its organized and down to (1) 2-pack and (1) 4-pack weather tight connectors.

You're causing me to have those "How do I get off of this crazy train" memories. Well worth it in the end, broheem!

Yeah, Im staying positive...LOL. Its snowballing into a while truck rewire and clean up. Need to make a checklist!

Yesterday, I started a fuse panel and bus bar set up.....

This morning I got it bolted up in the dash.

Got about 90% of my hack wiring sorted out then it started raining on my and had to call it a day. So damn frustrating. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the dash gauges and lights wired up tomorrow.
