Heavy's HK5

Yes sir! Looking forward to it. Its nice getting the K5 bug again. For a while there I was ready to dive more into my 300Z over the K5. Cant wait to get her on the road again.

So what are your plans for the big gaping hole on the right side of the dash?

If your referencing the area next to where the gauge cluster is going, the only plans are for the heater control switch, at the moment. I would like to try and keep the dash as clean as possible.

Still have to figure out where Im going to put the heater ducts in there somewhere.

Finally got the gauges all wired up and working.

Where Kert offers the high beam LED, I opted to use it for the CEL light.

Tomorrow is LED high beams re-wired up, 12" light bar re-wired and heater control wired up.

Maybe I missed it, why do you have two volt gauges?

Looks nice btw.

yeah, I did that like 6, 7 yr's ago... it's like Dr Seuss, thing 1 and thing 2... :haha:

it only works well on certain dual bat setups, otherwise they just read the same... mine are setup on relays...

Relays was the way I was going to go.

Ahhhh, I see.:waytogo:

I went the easy way and just have a heavy battery cable between my batteries.

What are your plans for a front driveshaft? (I'm assuming the new springs will provide enough flex for a long slip shaft)

Nice, I've missed that in my searches. I've got some parts that are long like those in that thread but I'm worried they might not be enough with 52's. I also have a D60 flange Kert made. I don't know...

Did you see the result after his first trail run ? or somebodies result of the first trail run ?

Build a square tube or buy one from a reputable drive shaft builder.

Did you see how much work he had into that shaft ?

How much time did it take him.

Squre tubes work fine as long as you can unlock the hubs they are even rather quiet

I read the results of another guys attempt at this and how it failed but if you saw his welding/fab work, it was ****ty. I haven't found the original results.

Im pretty sure I can come across another front drive shaft for cheap and give this a go taking some time in good welds. If not, a square drive shaft it is.

This would only be sudo temporary solution anyways as Im collecting parts for a doubler. The plan is to have a DS built after the doubler is complete.

Im about 98% done with the dash install. Still have some minor wire tucking to do. Pics:

Blinkers are operational and the blue LED that Kert puts in for high beams, I used it for the CEL light.

Left bottom toggle: Running lights
Left top toggle: Headlights
Right bottom toggle: Large E-fan (3-way toggle: Temp on, off, manual on)
Right top toggle: Small E=fan (3-way toggle: Same as large e-fan)

Left toggle: 4x6 LED high beams
Right toggle: Side Tracked 12" light bar

Put these here for easy access while driving. Now I don't have to reach forward to turn them off when a vehicle approaches.
