Hedman Elite Header Review

Question. so i got an 83 1/2 4wd long bed, no lift yet, 350 from and 87 burb, smog removed with unknown headers and which do aprear to hit my shackel aswell. A hole has apeared in the passenger side hedder after some light wheelin by my front drive shaft. Now these hedman elite hedders seem really nice and i am gonna get em. The part number for the hedders when i look em up for my truck at summit or jegs are 69088. Is this correct or should i get the 69830 for clearances on the shackel. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and Hi im a noob.
Thanks,
Dirk

I can't comment on whether they will fit well with an auto tranny, but the 69830's fit like a glove on my 87 Jimmy 350tbi/sm465.:waytogo:

I am interessted to know also about auto clearance. Pics of the 69830 coated/69820?uncoated would be a great help around the shifter.

Thanks,
Kenny

I put them on my auto, and I got i tto clear, it's close but it clears, and I'm runing dual 3".

I have stock starter, and my camera flash ain't working right now, i'll have to get them later.

Get the 69830s if you're worried about clearance. I've heard that the other headers mount very close to the shackles and if your motor mounts are worn it will hit and cause problems.

Those running these headers, what starters you running?
I'm running the stock starter with my 69830s. I had to loosen it to get the headers up in place but that's it. Once the headers were up I tightened the starter back down and it fit with room to spare.

69890's hit the shackles even with brand new motor mounts. Follow Craig's advice on the 69830's, or whatever other headers hedman makes in your price range that are based on that number/design.

Hey, guess what, my camera started working...

Just an FYI for anyone that's in the market for headers, I saw a blurb in the latest Engine Masters that showed Hedman has come out with stainless Elites. Not sure what they fit, haven't checked out any catalogs for them.

Not much in the way of applications yet, but:

Actually peeling? I might call Hedman and see what they have to say.

Mines come off underneath the truck (weird, since we don't use salt, I suspect maybe the rapid change in temperature from hitting water?) but is fine up closer to the heads.

If they'd make these in stainless I'd get them.

Yea, actually peeling, on the pass side by the collector, and the drivers on a tube coming off of the head.

Assuming you guys don't use salt either, they will last quite awhile it seems, even rusty.

Still not right, the peeling to me sounds like a problem with the coating. Which is why I don't like coatings.

So I got the Hedman Elites 69830 for my 83 K10 w/ a 700r4 auto trans and they clear just fine. I will see if i can get some pictures of mine for some referance purposes.
