Hedman Elite Header Review

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a/c bracket info on the 830s. They are going on my 87 jimmy. Its a large A shaped bracket that mounts the a/c and ps and bolts to 2 studs on the drivers side front port of manifold. I talked to summit and they said either you buy a bracket or modify existing....been searching a lot but havent found the answer yet.

Heres mine

I have a question...do these headers come with the mating ball socket collectors to connect to your exhaust or must those be purchased separately? Thanks.

Kevin

The headmans with ball flanges all come with the mating collector and bolts for the exhaust.

You can also get the connector that has the offset to clear your crossmember. I did that with my Elites and it worked great, the extensions are about $25.00 @ Summit or Jeggie's.....You will love those headers great fit!

Coating is ****

Junk. Mine after one wheeling session and sitting a bit are rusty and they WONT stop leaking on my BBC since day one or day two or three w other styles of gasket, Cooks headers, dougs headers (NOT Doug thorley) although thorley aint to shabby. IMO Dougs are the BEST Fit and finish ur gonna find in an off the shelf (sortta) header expect to lighten your wallet for around 600 bones. anoter is Lemons expect 800 bones or so. Hooker hedman and Summit crap is just that, CRAP! I fixed my header leak with a 6.6 Duramax swap :D

Is that a newly installed engine or been in the truck for awhile?

I can tell you with absolute certainty, if the exhaust flexes much, or the motor mounts are shot (like mine) it will constantly pull the flange bolts loose, even if the nuts are doubled up on. I suspect the ball/socket may be a bit more intolerant of flex than the flat flange style since the ball is free to move, but that's about the exhaust system as a whole, not the headers themselves.

I have the ball flange headers on my 358 for 3 years, the only things i didnt like was they were a rusty mess after 3 wheelin trips and the bolts on the ball flange were loose after the first trip.. I double nutted em and they have been good ever since..

I gots 'em on my TBI'd 91 for about 4 months longer than the dynomax's after they started rusting (20 days of mud and guts) and you can tell the difference immediately after install and the first skinny pedal check:wink1: I've had a buddy wheel mine over a major obstacle (checking for a "driveline noise" aka tree branch stuck in the output yoke:whistle:) and saw first hand how much flex the ball and socket can stand up to... impressive and leak free:waytogo:
Love 'em and keeping them for the next transformation!!!!!

I have been running them for over a year and a half. The only issue I had was the bolts comming loose at the head and on the collector. On the heads I had to tighten them up 2 times and they have been fine ever since. The collector's I only had to tighten once. Outside of that they have worked fine.

My collector bolts keep loosening up, but I think thats because I dont have my exhaust hung propperly.
