Help me pick tires

I have the cooper st on my CC, great all around tire.

For offroad use, MT/R's that are fantastic.

Trailworthy also sells the Guarddog tires that have an MT/R like tread, a friend has them and they work well.

As far as the Military MT OZ tires, I would stay clear.....They are great on the road, but I wasnt impressed with them on my K5.

I have never had a ral issue with the 16.5 tires, but when you want to air down def need beadlocks, anything under about 10 PSI.

Searching Summit, it looks like either 3.5 or 4.5 is possible (in steel). I was going to go with 4, so now I'm torn, especially if you found 5" to be kind of tucked.
Not tucked so much as "factory position". They look alright but I would like them just that 1" further outboard. Plus, I have an issue where the tire rubs the drag link end on tight right turns, BUT I still have the factory push pull steering. I think a 4.5" bs would be just right. 3.5" would just barely push the tires outside the fenders (this is guestimating based on what I have now).

If you go the military tire route, or with hummer wheels, call Feltz tire in marshfield Wisconsin. Much better prices than trailworthyfab. They sell the PVC inserts, not sure if they do re-centering though

If you look in my build thread in my sig, there are pics of me wheeling with my brother. His rig is the Blue 78 K5. He has 37x12.50x17 MTR's (with Kevlar) on 17x9 procomp rockcrawlers with 4.25 backspacing. It's a really solid setup. Backspacing is about perfect IMO. He just went with the MTR's cause he found a guy on craigslist that was selling a set that was about 70% tread for a great price, but they are a really good all around tire too, from what I have seen.

I personally had the Military MTR's before getting my swampers (37x12.50x16.50 on 16.5x10 aluminum wheels). For the price, they were a pretty good tire. Went down the road well, but without being able to air down offroad, not much grip. Now with my Swampers, I now have TrailWorthy Fab's recentered 12 bolt H1's, and they are freaking awesome. After talking with Andy, he said he is close to being out of stock of the 8 bolts, but gave me a great deal on the 12 bolts that was a compariable price to the 8 bolts. Just call and talk to him. He is a great dude and will be straight up with you.

These are just my experiences, thought you might like a different perspective. Either way, I think all the tires you have listed will work well for you. Never really heard anything bad from any of them.

My h1s are pretty close to done, I'm just waiting on the rock rings. I'll let you know when they are done so you can come check them out.
