Help, transfer case dismantl (np 205)

i think i will build some kind of support for the rear of the t-case now that that bracket is aluminum

I got the trans and crossmember in and crossmember that holds it all together, I will have to mod the exhaust on passenger side about 5 inches

I wouldn't sweat any additional support because the adapter is aluminum now. The trans case is still the weakest spot.

Mounting the back of the Tcase some how may actually add to cracking the trans case.

I have seen those ring type NP205 transfer case ones that mount to the main shaft cover plate. Those could cause an issue if the engine twists, but the transfer case does not. I use the factory transfer case support bar that mounts in factory position on the side of an NP205, and then bolts to the bell housing. The factory support bracket allows the engine and transfer case to stay in alignment with each other even when there is any twisting. I also have the factory engine to torque converter inspection cover support brackets as well.

i will have to either relocate the hole in the floor or notch it to get 4x4 hi
but everything is in except the drive shafts
ill cut the rear down on the 3rd and have to save for the front for a few months

I have been looking for a different bending in the shifter to no avail

205 shifters aren't cheap anymore. I had to buy one recently and I feel like I did well at 200 for a good one.

So you guys discussing shifters made me think to go look on my shelf.

This one came from an '85 K30 with a SM465.

How do we tell if this is the correct one for your swap @Kain ?

The boot has one hole but the pivot seems pretty decent. The linkage hole looks good. Knob has a couple of spots on it and the lever needs cleaned and painted.

@sweetk30 was it you who used to have a pic of the different shifter types?
I'm 90% sure that is correct for Kain here.
