....disown me if I bought a Jeep?? :D I think I'd need some sorta shot from the free clinic in town, but it wouldn't be that bad a vehicle/beater.

I'm a few months away from making another off-road truck purchase, and I'm leaning towards an XJ, of the 4.0, AX-4 flavor, late 90's....

Or, SFA an S-truck....

Money ahead with an XJ, though.
 
Im sure the day is forth comming that I buy a Jeep, course Ive had my eye on a 80s Wagoneer with a 360 forever. The thing is a damn tank, i wanna gut it and make a sweet huntin rig with it.
 
Its okay to own a jeep, as long as it is a Just Everyone Elses Parts. My jeep is a 78 cj5 that is a 4 door, sits on a 3/4 ton frame, and has 3/4 ton drivetrain. That is the best way to have a jeep:D But on a xj, remember that they dont have a frame. That is why a s-10 with a SFA would be better.

Disown you just because you got a Jeep? Hardly! It's about you, not the Jeep.

I would however, not want to go MUDDIN with a Jeep unless it was really built. IMHO, it doesn't seem to matter how qualified the driver is, the damn things just get stuck too easy due to short wheel base. It spoils the day to have to yank the same rig out constantly. Rocks are another thing, but I'm not into that.

bro if your going to go to something smaller besides a s-truck, go with a 4runner. those things are sick, a chevy would easily own it but still. jeep is bottom of the barrel. everyone owns a heep
 
had 3 xjs, one twice, a zj and a wj....

go zj, you wont regret it, a 4.5" LA kit and some 35"s with trimming, a 4.0 and auto and no problems... and as for "jeeps suck in the mud because of wheelbase", has nothing to do with it... my zj on stock tires was REALLY capable, once i yanked the swaybars...

Long arms and D35 lower link mounts need to be reinforced, they like to tear off.
 
had a friend with a ZJ, fullwidth 3/4ton 4link rear on 36's, it was pretty sweet. ill see if i can find pics. much rather have a s-truck tho

Why would a Chevy easily own a Toyota?

Go with the Jeep Chris, already has a front axle ready to go albeit a Dana 30, bulletproof engine, slap some long arms on it and wheel the piss out of it.
