damn, wheres the wagon ? what model it is ??

wagon is a rare thing, theyve all been demo derbied, even all the 80s ones, all gone nothing left, most all the full size cars gone too,

a 67-72 pickup c-10 would be an excellent sleeper and a 396 would sit right in it, made for it, well 68-72 anyways(frame rails were modified in 68 for new big block availability) but you can do the same to a 67 frame

make sure you pick up a 3.73 one, most all were, especially 67-69, they are quick lil trucks, try to get coil rear one they dont wheel hop the rear end is solidly bolted in place with those big arms, no housing rotation :D

good luck
I dont know what kind of station wagon it is but my brother said it has "H.O" fender badges on it.:dunno: The guy my brother works for just got in 6 or 7 chevy cars that are in decent shape. My brother said that all of the bodies are in staright shape, and a couple came in with good running 327's in them. The only problem looked ot be that they have been sitting for a while and the frames are shot. Im not 100% sure I will be able to get the 396 but if I dont, it should be very easy for me to get a 327.

How ironic it would be if the station wagon with the 396 in it turned out to be a 1969,with the L-66 2 barrell version, with only 265HP-:rotfl: :rotfl: :haha: :haha: -all this arguing over a motor nobody has even looked at yet...:surepal: :dunno: :screwy:  .

Given that it is in a wagon, I'd bet money that's exactly what it is. Since he doesn't plan on running the original intake and cam it's not too relevant though.

Damn, your arrogant.... I know way more about hot rods than 4x4s. I'll admit I don't know to much on 4x4s, ESPECIALLY chevys, but don't question my knowledge on hotrod engines. I frankly don't give a damn that you are some bigtime 4 wheeler and have your name in a magazine. Sure, thats cool, but I don't read 4 wheeler.

You know what, I have to chime in to this post now. No real reason, other than the fact that I am one of the young pups myself (I am 20). Dirtwarrior and Wantedadodge seem like cool guys who are knowledgeable despite their ages. I like to see younger guys around our age on here, it helps me feel more at home, and gives me some more people to relate to. I will openly admit I don;t have much experience working on 4x4's, although I possess a lot of knowledge about them by reading, reading, and reading some more. But I don't like to brag about it. I like this website because its like a big family. There are some really nice people here, a couple of whom I have met, and I hope to meet more if I can make it to the ECBB.

However, I know most of the board members are reading this, sitting back, and laughing.

Jeremy, you are 25...and how long have you been into 4x4's?:ears:
Some interesting hypocrisy going on here. So you and Tim were in the RTCC, got your pic in a magazine...that doesnt exactly make you hot **** in anyone's book except your own. Fun, yeah, but no one cares. Four wheeler magazine sucks, as a matter of fact.

I think before you decide to make judgment calls on other people you don't even know, just bite your tongue. There is no reason for your outburst. Furthermore, I apologize to the starter of this post, but I had to get this off of my chest.
peace...

Show me some posts that reflect that I'm some kind of damned super wrench? FOR YOUR information i"m not< i don"t know how to bolt a short block together< yet< sorry< some of my keyes aren"t working< but i did pick and install the camshafts in all of my families cars and they all run real sweet>

hmmm, you cannot bolt a shortblock together, but you're fit to pick camshafts. sounds like ignorance runs in your family. it is impossible to accurately recomend a camshaft without first understanding the workings of an internal combustion engine, the flow characteristics of your heads, the rest of your powertrain, and your induction -just to name a few things.

any how that"s all i have to say about that< and if you want to continue to prance around acting like you know everything cause your fives years older then me< i guess you can do that> still< you never answered my question as to why your claims are credible compared to mine about my quarter mile times and such>
i never made any claims on my 1/4 mile times, to be honest, the only drag racing i have ever done in a vehicle built solely by me was my 82 C10, with an engine built almost identical to the one buttwarrior has been bragging about. backed by a 10 bolt w/3.42 gears, TH350 (shift kit and 2500 stall converter) on 27" street tires i managed to click off a blistering 15.02 @ 82 mph. again, this truck was built entirely by me just months after my 16th birthday. why have i not produced slips? nothing to brag about really. dyno runs were a norm for me, in the 9 months that i was at the University of Northwestern Ohio, my friends and roomates and i built a total of 46 engines, all but 4 of them were destined for street machines/drag cars. very few of them were under the 400, those that were, were not under it by far.

you're the kind of young face i like to see. honest. you know you dont know it all, and openly admit so. i'm planning on making a run to ECBB, just dont know if a tow rig is a feasable option for me at the moment. if not, i'll most likely be riding shotgun with Tim. looking forward to meeting you

actually, for you math majors, i'm 24. i've been "into" 4x4s since i was about 5 or 6, that's when i remember picking up my first "Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad" magazine. started turning wrenches with my grandpa and my uncle at 10, and have been wrenching ever since. like i said before, at least 50 engine builds under my belt, 95% of them small block Chevy. when i turned 16, i got my first truck, a C10 (2wd), and stuck to the 2wd platform for my personal vehicles until i turned 21. i'm building the 5th K series truck i have owned right now. as for your comments on the magazine... plain and simple, i take it yours has never been in a magazine, let alone one picked from thousands of entries from all over the continent, and possibly the world. had my latest rig been done, it could have just as easily been my truck that was picked rather than Tim's, as both my truck, and Tim's truck will be very similar. what do you wheel? no sense in cutting down something you havent even seen if you dont have something yourself, right? :ears:

I think before you decide to make judgment calls on other people you don't even know, just bite your tongue. There is no reason for your outburst.
you are right, i was overboard, as were the loud mouth little teenyboppers who are still muddying the thread. any particular reason that you chose to come after me, rather than going after them as well?

dude serious, how many people have told you your being an immature little prick?.... Buttwarrior? rofl at u.

stop being so damn defensive and let it go.... you posted more than anybody else then went back and deleted em all... say what ever the **** you want nobody is listenin.

Just to clear something up for K20, I could bolt a short block together, but I don't know how well it would run or if I could get the clearances all right. I took down my first engine when I was 12, a 383 Chrysler big block. Completely dissambled it, labeled everything and got it ready for a rebuild.

I KNOW EXACTLY how everything works in an engine, I've been reading car magazines since I could read, I've been riding dirtbikes and snowmobiles since I was 6. I hand picked all the parts in my motors and I helped put the short blocks together.

I'm not a big wheeler, my blazer takes a back seat to my Challenger. I enjoy 4 wheeling, but I simply have no need for anything with tires bigger then 33 inches since I'm not usually trying to go over obstacles for fun, but just trying to get somewhere.

BTW, I stopped by the bookstore today and picked up an issue of 4wheeler. Real Truck Challenge. Looks like you had lots of fun. Are you guys gonna do it again next year? I see you had some problems. I think it was the hill climb or the obstacle course, didn't you have a tire pop off a rim? What happened? Were you running extremely low pressure?

Anyhow, I'm interested to hear exactly what 396 BRnRsd has. And what wagon it is. I'm putting together a derby car right now and I'm looking for a mid '70s wagon, but I always thought thought they were cool, especially the 2 door delivery style. That was more of a '50s thing though.

Every see a Jeep Cherokee Delivery? JP had one a few years ago and they chopped the top off.

What a waste. Its like watching the Special Olympics..no matter who wins in the end there all still retards.

lol, editted... hehe

I thought it was racing a honda was like the special olympics... Even if you win your still a retard.

I think the base 4 barrel 396 was rated at 325 horses gross, then went all the way up to 425 in the Vettes. I have heard good stuff about the Ebrock alum heads, and I think they are the cheapest turnkey heads on the aftermarket. Bore it out for 402 pistons (standard). One HP per cubic inch should be a slam dunk with a better head.

First off, my apologies to 87BrnRsd, looks like this thread sure went to crap fast.

Moderators, if you see two people going at it like this again please put a 7 day ban on both of them, 2nd time will be longer of course. If people want to be pissed at someone they can be pissed at me for banning them.
