How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

whatever the reason, it shouldn't have happened...it's costing you time and trouble and them as well...

Bummer, but good they are covering it.

Are they going to cover the disassemble/reassembly for the 2nd time? And better, are you going to let them do that part?

I think im just going to leave the glass in it this time.

A guy I went to school with told me that he would take thin rope and put it around/under the window seal so the paint would go underneath and not leave a ridge from masking it off.

I seen his car after he was done...looked great!

:dunno: I thought it was a good idea.

Just heard from them again. They want to do it asap but they are booked until after Christmas. I told them that sucks and its been 90 days etc and they said that they would do a cut and buff on it for free to try to make up for the delay. I said that's good enough. So we'll see how it gos. I just want the thing done! I don't think the thing will see even 20k miles in the next decade anyway...

Your experience with MAACO is makes we not want to consider them at all....

Eh, its easy to look at the negative. But, to get into a better paint job, its probably 2x the cost. So....is it so bad you want to spend twice as much? Individual decision.

Bottom line, read the reviews for the maaco you want to use. Mine had good reviews. After that, go look at their work in person. What I saw blew me away. After that just talk to them. If you like what you hear, then go for it. Over all, I would use them again. They gave me a presentable paint job at half Tue price of anywhere else and gave a warranty. They had something go wrong with my paint job and are taking the steps necessary to make it right. Granted its all taking much longer than it ever should have, but that's life. Sometimes stuff just doesn't pan out perfectly. So don't let my experience of a paint shop in Portland affect you down there. They may both have the same name on their sign, but they are two different paint shops. Your results are directly a product of your research. In my case I got good results, but hit a snag.

Their problem. They aren't going to pull the Windos or aanything like that. I don't expect them to. It was my call to do all that stuff. I will expect them to correct anything they mess up tho as far as damaging new seals and stuff.

Dropped it off today. They say a little over a week. So probably 3-4 weeks? At least they are really slow right now.

Good luck on it. Maybe they will get it back like they say this time.

So, update. The truck hasnt been worked on and they are going out of business and a different maaco is taking them over. Im going to see if its possible to get in touch with corperate offices and get my money nack. Still waiting for a call back from the maaco thats taking over on a timeline of when they would be working on it. Yay.

Suck. How bad has the problem gotten?

If they give you your money back, will you get it repainted, or just live with it?

Not insanely bad. I would just live with it until i can afford to get it painted by a real shop.

just read this whole thread and fist off I feel real bad for you and mad at them too. I saw this coming when they started jacking you around with the time frame, I just kept reading waiting for it to go sour.

This is why even though I have no idea what I am doing most of the time I just do it all myself. I did farm out the building of my 496 and I still am nervous about it since I have not got to really drive it much at all.

Anyway, I really hope it all turns around and goes your way now!!
