How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

If you keep washing it so much, your going wash the new paint off it.:haha::haha:

I've washed my new paint job burn more than I've driven it around the block. Those side markers were some of the first things I put on. Its really starting to come back together nicely.

there's only one thing better than a new vehicle....that's a new old square body...:D

I hear that! Still plenty to do no this one even after its all put back together. A/C, Little work in the front end, window motor relay mod, new headliner, new dash pad, new stereo, new uphulstry, new tires, t-case rebuild, 14bltFF swap, switch over to 6.0, ETC... Lots to do. Just doing it little bits at a time.

Oh i am. But i know that a 6.0 would be more fitting and make it more "complete". Just that i know that if it were availabe in 1990, this truck would have gotten a 6.0 since its a 3/4ton. If it were a half ton it would have gotten a 5.3. So power wise, its fine. But not really waht "should" be in there.

Fair enough. I bet the 6.0l swap would be easy now, as most would transfer over....

It would be as simple as a motor swap! Only thing that would have to change is the tune.

That is why I keep thinking about the 6.2L I wanted in the first place but couldn't find.

Well what better way to get a little Sun on the seals than to drive it to work to bake in the parking lot! Going to cruise it on into work even tho there is LOTS to do still. No rear bumper, only one door panel on, no dash pad. Cool. Just really want the seals to bake as much as possible before winter gets here and they no longer have the chance. Not to mention I have just been wanting to drive it...

That has to be a great feeling, being able to cruise around in the burb again. :waytogo:

I forgot how fun it is to drive! Just got gas AMD now I'm waiting for my ranger burger to get done at the best burger food cart. A 1/2lb home ground patty topped with mu fukin beef brisket son! Today, is infact, a good day.

Me too! That is one tasty burger. And its just right down the street from me!

Mostly to ryoken;

So, can i cut/buff my paint job? There are some times of day and angles where some of the clear coat looks a little dull. So is it possible to make it shine by buffing (or something like that) To make it shine in those duller areas? Or is what i got, what i get?

base/clear right?

yes, it can... has this developed since you brought it home? or from day one? what's it been, a couple weeks now?

you generally want to start as mild as you can.... a wheel with some finesse it probably, if that doesn't work, step it up to a bit of white clearcoat compound first...

Be very very careful....I used a wool wheel and Finesse and burned through my paint in the doorwell...
but that's also my paint job...I didn't get near enough clear on there...still be very careful....
I would be scared to use anything but a foam wheel...but obviously I am not trained on a high speed wheel....:haha:
I learned this much...a wool wheel creates a lot of heat on the edges at high speeds...
