Howdiymobile....

Put them in today and drove around the little commercial area which is about 300'x100'

This was on 32" roll around though, I haven't got the 40's on it yet

I'll be back in town in about a week and half for a month, I hope to maybe actually go wheeling in that time frame

Home for a month, hopefully gonna accomplish some things

Rock sliders
Winch bumper
rear sway bar

Will add as I remember, currently at the sleepy state before bed and can't think

We got a plasma cutter last week also, this should be handy

I dont mean to be a bother, but ive been meaning to build a winch bumper for my burb, you mind pic whoring the process and when said winch bumper is done?

Will do, I'm going to start with the hideous bumper on there right now.

I'm going to try and get some steel tomorrow

I'm going to try and make it pretty set back and I'll have to cut out some of the grill

I'm gonna cut the last few inches of the bumper on each side also. Should look pretty good actually. I'm going to have to cut out the grill to get it in

I've got more pictures. I also got the other side done, it was dark out though

Just gotta upload them from my phone

Modified diy4x brackets, basically slapped a piece of steel on them

I'm using pipe, it's .150 wall and about 2.2 diameter

Galvanized, kinda scary to weld but I took all the precautions. Didn't really even notice it since I ground it all off, only stuff on the inside of the tube

Looking good.
Be been toying the idea of building a bumper or buying one of DIY4D's. Not sure still but kind of looking forward to the challenge and fun of building my own.

With a very busy work schedule I'm jot sure when is be able to even get to it.

His is defiantly cleaner and more refined than mine will be. I've got plenty of time and probably around $50 in steel. I think I may try adding some tube to it before I go back to school also

Something like this, but with a pointy stinger since I can't do bends more than 15-20*

Yeah, if I didn't have all kinds of different steel sitting around I would prop reconsider.

What winch are you going with

Actually scratch the tubing idea, maybe just the stinger. I donno if I'm gonna narrow the front or not yet

Not sure yet, a budget winch. I'm thinking a ENGO, or the harbor freight badlands. I'm leaning towards an ENGO though. 10k or 12k, theres a $100 difference and I think the 12k might be slower

Progress on the rock sliders will be haulted for a little, I ended up messing up this cyst I had on my tail bone and now it is swollen and oozing. Might have to have it cut out. I can still finish the bumper though.

Hope your healthy again soon, I know first hand how crappy it is to be laid up.
Get Well

antibiotics have worked surprisingly well, swelling is way down

Going to try and finish the rock sliders and add these to the bumper

Going to mock up the back bracing with a smittybuilt 8k tomorrow, should be similar in size to whatever winch I get

On your Jana 76 project -

Did you notice how thin the bottom of the housing was after clearancing? The instructions mention ~1/8" which worries me. I'm thinking about trimming my ring a little to minimize the work on the housing.

I don't think it's that thin, I had to take the most of the top, I didn't have to grind much on the bottom at all, and only used a flapper wheel on the bottom.

I think that the Chevy housing gives you a little more room, I've read that on pirate4x4 also
