I have a K5!

Hahaha. I've owned Big Bird yellow, blue, and aqua green Trackers, a burgundy Grand Vitara, and a silver XL7. Never the Barney Purple. Have to be a hell of a deal. Luckily they had gone a bit less metro/teenage girl with the color schemes by this vintage.

I think udy came along after you got rid of the last Tracker. Might be time to post up a collage of all the little beasties for all to enjoy.

Thanks for the update. I would love to see the "little" toys. I gotta get rid of the F250 first, then I gotta find a decent "toy" economizer. The payment and gas cost is killing me. I can afford the truck, but Ican't do anything else. Plus, my daughter (step) just left for college. It would be nice to be able to send her a few bucks every now and then. I even thought about selling the blazer and finding a stocker to build mildly and just drive it.

Any way, I would love to see some of the pics of the other toys!!

'93 Tracker. Bare bones nothing but power steering.
Went from this to this:

Gutted the interior, asphault undercoating on the rockers, 235/75R15 muds, and beat the wee out of it until the t-case started leaking bad.

Don't have a picture of the blue 90 or 91 I had. Don't by vehicles from rednecks, it only ran for 3 days before the block crack revealed itself.:doah: I tried to fix it but gave up when I discovered it wasn't the head that was cracked. It's okay, made my money back using parts off of it, selling parts, and then trading it to a friend.

'96 Tracker. Bought it for a song after the previous owner needed cash fast. 6" Calmini lift system, 31" muds, Cherry Bomb, Herculined lower body, uhm...went along great but Michigan was eating it and after the ex left I needed a better DD for the dogs and I so I sold it and used the funds to purchase The Blazer.

Honestly I wouldn't build one that way. It was kinda neat but I got sick of the buckboard wagon ride (seriously, Big Ugly rode better) and it was about 3" taller than it needed to be.

'03 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Pretty much fully loaded, nice ride until the ex rolled it while rushing to a job interview.:doah:

2" spacer lift, 225/75R16 muds, Magnaflow muffler, Warn Premium hubs that I wish I had thought to take off at the lot, uhm...I forget what else...custom body work by dumb woman?
(Needless to say I'm not afraid to get in an accident in these no matter what the haters say. She had a bruise from hanging upside down in the seatbelt and that was about it.)

'02 Suzuki XL7. Sorta like the Suburban of Suzuki's.

225/75R16 muds and that was about it. Oh, a decent stereo.
Only problem with the GV and the XL7 was their little V6's were a bit high revving to make any power. The GV got around 19mpg reliably, maybe 22mpg on the freeway and the XL7 got a gallon or two less. I was so under impressed with their power and mileage that I decided to go "down" to the 4-cyl and stick and get several mpg more. I drive a diesel Blazer, not like I expect it to be fast.

Thanks Rene.
BG, the Miata is still an option but after Saturday I keep thinking about wheeling....so maybe not for a while. Definitely don't have space for a wheeling rig AND a Miata.

It was cheap and I had no money and needed 4x4 to exist. It worked out great in the end. Also gave me a taste for vehicles no one wants to park next to in a crowded parking lot.

Thanks for the pix and insight into the vehicles. I still think the red Tracker is the most balanced, not over built look. That is the way I would go I think. I'm still stuck on a mildly built Blazer though. Maybe 2-3 inch lift with 33x9.5 studded for winter and 33 12.5 muds for summer riding. But, then there is that mileage thing. If I could get over 15mpg regularly, I think I could be happy!

Diesel.

Then again you're still dealing with a rot box 21+ year old truck slowly falling apart on you due to the winter and age.

That's what I like about the Suzukis. While I like them I don't feel too bad sacrificing them to the winter gods.

Diesels are pretty scarce around here. I did have a 94 TD Suburban! It went the cracked heads way...just after the new injection pump. Ya-effing-hoo!!

Well, GM got the 6.2L perfected by about 89-90 then decided to upsize it to the 6.5L and make it more complicated...and it wasn't until AMG was building them over a decade later that they seem to have worked the kinks out.

Still, find a good one and take care of it and they'll last and get great gas mileage.

As far as the locality thing goes, that's no damn excuse. I went to Seattle for mine.:waytogo:

My number one excuse is a two parter: 1. Money 2. Time
Being a poor white-trash red-neck can be tough at times:dunno:. I would love to find a civy diesel blazer like yours, but they seem to be getting pretty rare. But I will keep looking for now.

Mine was actually quite cheap but yes, kinda time intensive. Lots of waiting and a few moments of RIGHT NOW!

Exactly.

It's funny because I was talking with my buddy and his wife here and they just can't fathom why I sent money to someone I had never actually met all the way across the country to buy a 20 year old truck I had never actually seen and then drive it back across the country. They both think I'm a bit loopy but neither of them understands CK5 or old Chevy trucks. I mentioned the brotherhood and that got nothing. I have to say we have a better group here than on other forums I've been on.

YUP!!!:waytogo: Kinda like family...except less a$$-kicking here!:doah: Actually, now that we're older, my brothers, sister and I get along much better! All my business dealings with members of CK5 have been hastle-free. Why can't the rest of the world could work this way!:dunno: Not enough trust in fellow man.

Whoa, isn't that a little bit of a side-track...oops:whistle:

It's impossible to side track my threads. They never totally have a point as a rule.

Yeah, I don't think most people understand how much has been done for each other on this site.

It is hard for people to understand the brotherhood without having experienced it. When you have a member of the brotherhood show up at your work at 11:30 at night, after a snow storm, and with a welder and spare u-joint because you spit a cap on the way to work, then you truly understand.
