In my garage
I just bought this...I pick it up tonight.

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/pts/1785101585.html

Everything there for the TBI stuff. Looks really clean...I gave $575 for it.
Not shown is all the accessories, the TBI, computer, wiring harness, water pump. Only thing missing that I can see is the exhaust manifolds and distributor. The distributor from my 350 should fit though, and headers are a no brainer.

So, I'm thinking as long as it stays stockish the 700R-4 should be OK behind that? I do have a NV4500 waiting in the garage as a plan 'B', but I'm kinda digging the slushbox right now.

For the Blazer...

I couldn't pass it up, and I wasn't even looking for a big block. Believe it or not i was looking for a stock '83-'91 front bumper locally. Struck out on the bumper (go figure...) and ran across this.

If I remember the numbers the '90 TBI 454 puts out 235 hp and 385 tq net (vs 200 and 300 for the 350)

Pray for my 10 bolts. :haha:

It really is an addiction.

Maybe you should go back and reread your blazer post:haha:

Sooooo....................Ima going to fix the rust and get it on the road with a 454 but its stock and just kind of make it nice mild you know with lockers front and rear kind of an every day wheeler daily drive that will soon be completely bonkers ya know mostly stock

Sweet find Rene. Everyone needs a big block or two :D

Change the timing chain while its easy to do

It'll be on an engine stand till late fall at least...

Is there something I should know about the BBC timing chain? Anything else I 'should' do before it goes in?

I'm going for the 90% rule. If 90% of people think it's sorta stock then it is...

I told you guys I have a sickness. :doah:

BTW, I stole that for a sig...lol

I have a set of used headers from my sub that I wont be using. they're slightly weathered. Started life off as shiny ceramic coated.... Let me know if you have any interest... I see now you have 2 of the 454 tbi units:wink1:

It is made out of plastic, depending on what year your engine is.

The 454 that was originally in my suburban had the timing chain go out, all the push rods bent along with the valves.

Yes, the irony. I recently bought a 454 TBI unit off of a CK5er with the intention of eventually warming up the 350 a little. I guess that'll be for sale soon.

Thanks for the tip on the timing chain. I'd hate to leave something like that knowing now it's that cheap nylon/plastic stuff.

My daughter and I just got it home and in the garage on the engine stand. I snapped a few more pics, because I'm like a whore that way. :haha:

Got a good bunch of goodies with it, more than I expected!

On the stand. It appears the balancer and flexplate are both new, as well as the oil cooler/adaptor.

All the parts and accessories that it came with. I swear whoever pulled this stuff left nothing behind.

Wiring harness(s) I swear the guy gutted the entire truck...

The guy I bought it off of also claims there is a simple kit to adapt the SBC serp set-up onto the front of the BBC. Anyone ever hear of that? I'd prefer to keep that. I'm thinking i'll run the 6.2 rad in front of this, I have a good one sitting collecting dust.
