What would you do?

With not that much left to do on the blazer (after this axle the only thing not completely gone through will be the rear springs and tcase which both apear fine) And I have a suspicion that the locked axles are going to result in me wanting to hit the trails.. (But I don't feel like bashing the body as you all know)

Something cheap. Small/light. CHEAP. One seater. Basically a 4wd go cart on like 32s/33s etc. Glenn had mentioned when we were chatting about like small tdi motor. (Would be cool to put 10 gallons in and have fun all day)

Smaller axles, welded unless found deal with lockers.. But more important, what kind of engine/trans setup?

Simple link suspension with coil springs. (I've kinda wanted to try a grader ball style suspension for a while and a trail rig would be cool...)

Anybody know of some decent builds?

Not that I want to spend money and time on another project right now.. As I kinda want a break from it... But if I had a plan, I could at least gather parts as I found good deals etc..

What about a big bore 4x4 ATV?

As in just buy a quad? Or use the drivetrain?

I'm seeing people just taking fwd car motors and turning the sideways. And using the axles as driveshafts. Seems legit. Rear engine buggies.

In all seriousness get a Geo tracker or Sami they can be had for cheap and have a title so you can drive to the trails.

I was thinking the quad. Just seems like it's pretty much exactly what you're looking for. Plus if you're like me and into instant gratification, they're ready to go out of the box.

Transaxle /moon buggy.

Buy a honda motor/trans and toy axles.

Run 35-37 and go stupid places.

Really? I've been helping on this, and I'm sure Brett would be way down to build one with me as he wants to make money at this, and I think a cheap trail buggy would be way more profitable than the big ones...

And you present me with a tracker? Come on man!

It would be all tube for sure. Built around axles and suspension. No silly body or frame to work around.

Didn't know you wanted all tube. 1 seaters are lame go atleast 2. For trails I would want something with a low range. I would still go with a tracker or Sami drive line. By the time you are done with that you could have linked your blazer and have money for a tow rig

The title says tube buggy!

I'm open to suggestions. That's why I made the thread.

I like the way the 1.4 turbo scoots my 2400 lb car around... In a couple years when they wound up smashed up in junkyards... I bet that would push a 2000 lb or less buggy pretty well.

I was lookin at the big pimpin mini buggy stuff on pirate. Pretty cool.

Ehh I want something I can be stupid in, and just roll it back over if it flips. That could hurt on a quad.

Unless you just want to invest a lot of time and/or money, I'd build a Toyota cab truck. TONS of aftermarket support and the 4 cylinders are unbelievably dependable.

Adam, you and I could not be on 2 more opposite ends of off road vehicles at this moment. I am kicking this around.:eek1:

Dang, everybody is so against it lol. I thought it'd be a sweet rig to build under $4-$5k.

I like this one. Honda engine and trans... I think it could be shorter though.

What about something like Extreme 4x4 just did? Toyota pickup, back half tube frame, links, etc. That way at least you've got the whole drivetrain and frame to build off of, but still enough tube to protect it.

Those look like marvs old wheels. Hmm maybe that's marvs new buggy?

If I built a buggy, that is the route I would go. 2.2 ecotech SS. The one in my moms HHR screams.

I like that it took 19 posts to get one person to agree :haha:

Tube buggy guys. No truggy a, no samis, no toyotas....

Maybe drivetrains from them.. But that's it...
