I had to rig up a comealong and a chain in the rafters of my barn to get my D60 out of the back of my truck. those damn things are heavy!!!!

about 550 lbs for a complete dan 60

nice score guys.

i got one once for 60 bucks. thay even fliped the truck upside down for me and pulled it after i un bolted it and loaded it for me with huge payloader.

also scored a 400/205 from it.

The day part was getting it all unbolted. We used a plastic bed liner underneath the truck, and dropped it on that. Then pulled the liner and axle out. We put it on a cart and drug the cart about an 1/8 mile to the front of the yard. They let us use an engine hoist to load it Ij the bed. The wheels on the hoist were to big to for under the mini truck. It sucked balls. Took about an hr to get it the bed.

yeah
the funnest part was when the engine hoist started tipping over and we had to drop it quick :doah::haha: Good times :waytogo: The axle will be accompanying me to work until I can rent an engine hoist to get it out. Airbags set to 45psi, so it's not too heavy. :D

Here are some pics of the rigs in the yard where I found the Dana 60. There are a few more yards, But This is just one. There are more GMs I didnt get pics of.

And this is a typical intersection in town. The only thing you dont see is a huge F250.

Awesome find on the D60.

PM and let me know how much the 2WD steering gear box sector shaft and nut cost, and shipping, and I will paypal you the amount plus some for your time. Thanks.

I can't believe the owners of that yard let that 60 go for that cheap. That's unreal...:eek1: They obviously didn't know what they had. Good score.

As for loading those things...I've loaded them into the back of a truck by myself before. 14bff too. With no hoist, forklift or anything else. Pull the tailgate off, set one end in the bed, pick up the other end and push it the rest of the way in. Way back in the day, we went to a yard near Hollister, CA... Gilroy I think? and picked up a 14bff for Cheryle's (Sheweeler) rig. After we pulled it from the truck, her and Dan (Gokartergo) took off to find the loader operator. I got tired of waiting and muscled it into the back of the truck myself. About dropped a nut, but it worked. :haha:

The people working at the junkyard where I got my 60 at knew it was worth a lot and they still charged me $100. It's a big corporation so they don't care
