im thankin bout sellin my k5 what you guys thank?

For me, I see the lack of effort put into a simple thread, and figure why waste my time. But then I do like to check back to read the flaming....:D

Well, je parle francais, homeys! I also speak "Southernese," - it's my native dialect, and I say it's about time everyone around here learned how to interpret what we're saying. I don't have any problem understanding what people from Colorado or anywhere else is saying, so why can't anyone understand me? They had college courses for Ebonics in the '90s, so why not have a class in "Southernese" so some other folks can learn it before it disappears?

We don't have classes in "southernese" because we all are highly anticipating the day the sourthern dialect and vernacular disappear in favor of the "intelligent-ese" that the rest of us speak at one level or another...

JK, its cute and all... but i think we ought to all get on the same page... the interweb, TV, and phone are eliminating geographic dialects. Maybe "southernese" is resistant due to a lack of those?

btw you understand people from elsewhere because they are understandable and "enunciate"

7 posts......it only too 7 posts to go completely OT. :eek1:

Anyway, it sounds like either one is a well setup rig. If the truck bed fits your needs better, go for it. Either way you get stout running gear, the only question is how much enclosed space you'll need and what you're willing to give up.

I'm still biased towards the K5's. :waytogo:

As far as posting on Pirate, those guys are a bunch of smart butts that just want to make fun of every little thing. That's what I like about this site - you can just be yourself and ask any question you want and not feel like a moron for it. If anyone does get out of control, they have good moderators to put the jerks in place.

Long live ck5!!! Let the stuck-up, rich little Jeep loving punks have Pirate!!

Dude you are so right! Pirate is a bunch of rock crawling ONLY losers. Anything else in their little minds, Doesn't belong, which is totally wrong!

Don't take it to seriously even I butcher some words, just not that bad ;) I'm not sure what I would do if someone came up to me and started talking like that, probably fall over laughing.

You know not every one is perfect. big blaze 18 don't worry about it man not every one here is like him. I have to agree on if you could find a way to combine the two to make on better do it. Easier said than done I know.

As for the language part I remember a line in Smokey and the Bandit "your only ignorant depending on which part of the country your standing in at the time."

Hang in there and welcome to the addiction!

Got any pics of the rigs in question?

Yea hey that will work too. He has over 50 post now all he has to do is host them on photobucket and then click and post. Here is an old show me how I made.

There's some differences you need to consider between trucks and Blazers that haven't been mentioned yet.

First, the weight difference. My swb half ton pickup only weighs about 4,700 lbs.. I'm not sure how much a similarly equipped Blazer weighs, but I'm thinking around 5,700 to over 6,000 lbs. Less weight can equal better mileage, but the Blazer may have better aerodynamics. Also the Blazer's extra weight is over the rear wheels - right where it needs to be for good traction.

As for the wheelbase, the shorter Blazer can make tighter turns on the trail, but the longer wheelbase of the truck makes steep climbs easier. It's kind of a trade off. You know that wheelbase is king on our east coast trails.

The trucks to me are easier to work on, especially if you plan on doing a shackle flip (which I recommend). On the Blazers, you have to lower the tank to be able to get to the shackle hanger bracket, but with the trucks you just have to lower the spare tire to make it a little easier to get to the brackets.

Another thing to consider is the roll cage. If you plan on doing one of these, it's probably cheaper (easier?) to add a cage to the truck's smaller cab. Whether it's easier or not is up for debate.

Something that may or may not be important is the fact that the added articulation that you get from the truck's seperate cab and frame could maybe allow you to climb obstacles that you couldn't in the Blazer, although both vehicles flex really well.

Don't forget about the gas tanks either. The trucks have the side saddle tanks, and unless the truck you're looking at has dual tanks (which I doubt), it probably has the little 16 gallon thank that will only get you about 150-200 miles down the road. The Blazer will probably hold more gas than the pickup truck will. I think they have a 25 or 30 gallon tank, right?

The final thing I'll mention is that if you want to easily add some rock sliders to your rig, the Blazer is far easier to make the installation on. In fact, you can buy ready-made sliders for Blazers and Jimmies all day long from the vendors on the vendor forum here, but if you want some full length, bolt-on sliders for your truck, you're on your own. In fact, that's what I was working on just now when a thunderstorm came up and made me come inside and get on this site.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with either a GM truck or Blazer/Jimmy. Whichever one you choose to keep, you'll be happy. Keep all this stuff in mind, talk to some more folks and be proud of who you are. Don't let anyone tell you that you should be just like them. Just be yourself. If we were all the same, life would be pretty dull. God wanted you to be from Tennessee, so who can say anything bad about that?

Well put andy all good points. :waytogo: Nice addition to this thread. I might have to repost this some time.

I live in the South (kinda) and do spell some things how I pronounce them, but that **** just make's you (and everyone else from the south) sound stupid. No wonder they eat your lunch on Pirate! Have a nice day, y'all!

John

I can't believe we're still on this. English was always one of my best subjects in school, so I'll spell it out for "y'all.":

Some people are good at expressing themselves through written words; others are not. If someone posts a question in the Garage forum and you are pretty sure you know what they're talking about, why not just be respectful and either answer their question as best you can, or move on and don't worry about it?

I agree that people from the South sometimes get stereotyped when one of us may not display the best communication skills, but I can almost guarantee you that the guy who posts on this site in rough English, wanting to get everyone's opinion about his off road interests, is also the guy who works hard all week long, plays hard, respects others, is as passionate about his hobby as any other ck5 member, will gladly do whatever he can to help others in need (especially fellow off roaders) and in this case, he likely displays those famous Southern values of hospitality, work ethic, loyalty and comraderie. So why run guys like this in the ground when or hobby needs them, even if some of us would diagree with that.

My point is, we all like to build, wheel, show off, learn about and discuss our Blazers and trucks here. So no matter who we are, how we talk or where we're from, can't we all just get along?

By the way, dude, Oklahama is not part of the South. It's a nice place and I would like to go to Disney sometimes, but if you ever want to come to the real South and see what it's really all about, just let me know. We'll treat you right and show you a good time. We don't make fun of people because of how they talk either - most of the time anyway.

so i havent read the whole thread, but whats the verdict, are you sellin yur k5 and buyin a short box
