Introductions & Greetings

82 Blazer

Good to be a part of a site dedicated to the K5. From everything I've seen here it's a great place to be. My old girl is an 82 K5, 6" Superlift, 35's, and she's one of the best friends I've had. Soon as I can figure out how to post some pics I will. The restoration is ongoing on her, but I do what I can when I get time at the shop. I own a custom paint shop in Spring Texas called Slightly Altered Concepts, we do alot of crazy things with the airbrush. But I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Thanks everyone.

Hi, I'm new here - I own a 1996 4-door full sized Chevy Blazer. I have had intermitent problems throughout the life of this vehicle. The most recent at 55,000 plus miles the transmission went out and had to be re-built and now the heater core and other associated things had to be replaced and the system was flushed. I have recently spent $5000.00 on this vehicle for the above issues. I guess I will be keeping this one until it completely falls apart. It is paid off, so the repair is still cheaper than buying a new one. As these things fall apart, I am being told that this kind of repair is notorious for the make and model. I think before I buy another car I will definately try to research what the common issues are for the car. The problem is many problems in NEW cars are yet to be revealed because they are so new. Of course as soon as the warrantee wore out the problems began wouldn't ya know - I think it is a conspiracy. My blazer has low milage, now 57,000 and I know that things will break down in a car just due to the amount of years and not just the milage. Well now that I've vented my problems - maybe others have already had these problms as well. Anyway I look forward to learning more things about my car and other models as well. I am not so sure I will buy another Chevy product though.

ATL, GA 71 blazer

hello first time, been restoring a 71 blazer for a few months now. having fun, trying to figure it out. Got it with the inside gutted. The only haunting question i have is with the sunvisor. in the corner of the windshield there seems to be a rounded off plastic cap. If anyone can help with a picture of what one looks like that would rest my mind. Thanks, John.

need some help locating parts

This is my first post, I,m currently building a 87 blazer for a friend of mine. I already installed a 350 (bored and stroked) Dana 60 rear with detroit locker, Dana 60 front, cross over steering, 12" suspension, 3" body and 46" Baja Claws, while I'm waiting for the driveshafts to be made I wanted to mount the front shocks. Is there anywhere that I can get multiple shock mounts for the front, or am I going to have to fabricate something? I looked around and so far cannot find anything. Any help would be appreciated since I am new to the Blazer world, I have built many Toyotas, F250's, and Jeeps, but this is my first Blazer.

Thanks

A little about me...former GM line tech of 7years turned LEO or a glorified toll booth operator. I am the proud owner of a 72 GMC 3/4ton with a 98 vortec 350 w/a holley 650, a T350 that leaks like a big dog. DANA 44/60posi do i see a 4sp conversion in the future?? Anyways this place rules! And I glad to be a part of it.

Hello all

Hello all from South Carolina. My name is Eric, I was a member here a long time ago it seems. I used to own a 78 K5, and just recently bought a 91 K5. I enjoyed the information this site had to offer before, and look forward to getting to work on my "new" K5.

I guess I'd better follow suit. My name's Mike, I live in Michigan, and I drive a '78 K-20. 355 w/ roller valvetrain and Comp cam's extreme 4x4 cam, forged pistons, rods, and crank and an MSD 6 Off-road; th400 with redline frictions, steels, a B&M shift kit, and a B&M light truck mega shifter; rebuilt 208 t-case(cause it's quiet and shift on the fly); rebuilt 14FF and 44HD with 4.10's; 35x14.5R16.5 TSL Interco Thornbirds w/ chrome mod's; dual electric fans from an '01 Pontiac Bonneville; on board air; buckets from a '81 Burb; Grant Mahoghany(?) Steering wheel; Kenwood Excelon CD player w/ 400 watt amp; Cobra 148F GTL modded w/ boot and 102" SS whip; 12" drop bumper; and the nastiest paint job ever. Wanna see?

Near future mods include: Steering box brace install, front winch bumper with Harbor Freight 12,000lb winch, hi-amp alternator, dual battery setup, and re-installing my dual tanks; because a single 16 gallon tank doesn't last very long.

In central Nebraska, diesel is anywhere from .50 to .70 higher than gasoline. Being "farm" country, it is very easy to come by. (as long as it's green and not red)
