Introductions & Greetings

Hey all

I just signed up, and figured I'd do the intro thing. I am a 35 yr. old teacher from Pittsburgh, and have an 84 Chevy K10 shortbox. Truck is pretty stock, 350 auto, no lift yet, but I spent most of my time on it replacing all the rusty parts of the cab, and getting everything to work. Looking forward to gaining more knwledge about these trucks as I start my upgrades.

On a side not, this seems to be the only section I can currently post in. Is that normal, or is there somethign else I have to do to post in all the forums?

You'll have to sign up and pay the $25 in order to post elsewhere. Until then you're only a spectator. I lurked these forums until December when I finally bought my membership and could get in on the action. It has been well worth it so far. Lots of good guys on here and more information than I have been able to locate anywhere else. Welcome!

HI There....Im Jen, I live a cool small town, on the west slope of the Sierra's, called Pollock Pines. We spend alot of time on the Rubicon Trail...we love wheelin':D. We have several Jeeps, a Suburban, a F350 and a Tucker SnoCat.

I have three kidlets, ages 11, 9, and almost 3yrs. Im a stay at home mom, with a awesome hubby:wink1:

Im looking forward to making new friends on here...so far you guy's have been a great help..(speed-o problem).
 
Hi everyone,

I figured I'd introduce myself... my name is Herb, I'm in the Coast Guard stationed in Huntington, WV, and I have a 71 K5 Blazer that I've been working on since last May. In the past I've had two 78 Blazers and a 87 Jimmy. I've always liked the first gen and I finally have one.

So far I've rebuilt the original 350, balanced it, added forged TRW pistons and moly rings, a mild Comp cam, Edelbrock heads & intake, Carb Shop built Q-jet, Performance Distributors DUI, Hooker headers, and a Ron Davis Racing aluminum radiator w/ twin Spal fans. I replaced the TH350 with a Bow Tie Overdrives 700R4, converted the front output to a 32 spline and resealed the NP205 w/ a seal kit from Northwest Fab. I also got a nice pair of driveshafts from High Angle Driveline w/ 1350 joints on the rear and unfortunately, 1310's on the front due to a lack of clearance created by the 700R4. I installed a Skyjacker 4" lift (it actually has 6" rear leafs), ORD heavy duty shackles front and rear and ORD greasable bushings. It rolls on a set of 15x10 ARE Outlaw wheels and 33 BFG Mud T/A's. Over the weekend I installed a 14bsf rear with 4.10 gears and a Detroit Locker. The next project is a front Dana 60.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my rig (it still has some bugs that need to be worked out, but they're becoming fewer and fewer!) and hope to get some wheeling in soon!

Hi all, Brian from Toronto Canada. After reading the previous hello's I can safely say I know nothing about these vehicles. I can say this place rocks. I had a question, and after typing it in, and figuring out if I did it right, I already had a reply. I have always wanted a GMC Jimmy. I now own a 2002 and love it. I am learning that maintaining it is not as easy as I thought, and finding this place was a Godsend.

How's it go'n, I live in north east Louisiana but travel all over the U.S chase'n pipelines to make a living. My work truck(he!!,my only truck)is a 1972 Blazer,stock 350ci,stock th350,np205,10blts,3.73's,4inch susp. with 33's,rust,primer,home made bumpers and stock uncomfortable seats! As for the wheel'n part of it,just about every pipeline right of way has some good wheel'n spots. Most of the time you have to put your truck through some pretty burly sh%# just to get to your piece of equipment. Hard on the blazer but it's fun as he!!.Also traveling everywhere I get a chance to find some pretty cool trails and local wheel'n spots. Not really plan'n on upgrading for hardcore wheel'n(6-8 inch,38's,14blt,air locked etc.) just keep'n it road worthy with enough tire and lift for the occasional weekend beer drink'n,u-joint destroy'n trip. I'll talk at ya'll later!

Hello All. I just became a 1984 k5 blazer owner. I have been four wheelin since 1978 in the Everglades. I live in Naples, Florida. Ialso have a swamp buggy that is made out of a 1978 chevy blazer. That ine has a 8lug 44 front diff with a limited slip, rear is a 14 bolt FF witha posi, 4.56 gears, no 205,th350 with a 4.3 engine running 46 inch tall R1 tractor tires witha 60 gallon fuel tank. hey there guys, my names nick. im getting ready to buy an 87 jimmy fullsize off a guy here in about a month. its a 300 dollar job that i plan on fixing up quit a bit. its all stock for now. anyways i just thought i would say hello to everyone.
 
Hey all. I'm Barry from Phoenix. I just bought an 85 Suburban K20 with a 350 motor, TH400 tranny, 6" lift, & Skyjacker suspension. I'm not very knowledgable in the mechanical world, but between Chiltons and the internet, I get by. Can't wait to start going through here and getting tips and other assorted info. Just looking at some of the vehicles and pictures in here has got me MAJOR worked up to head out and go for a romp! Looking forward to chatting with some of y'all later.

Well.......I finally paid my dues. :D I have been a lurker here since 2002 and I believe this is my second post. :blush: I can't believe I have been here that long although there was a couple year hiatus where I wasn't working on the K5 and didn't come around. Well now it is back in full swing and I got tired of feeling like a mooch and decided to pay my full dues.

Little about me and the truck. I am 27 and am currently 3rd in line in the company business. Right now it is only my parents and I but we are trying to stretch our legs and get our name out there. We are an exclusive destributor to the northwest for a cabinet company out of Texas. It keeps me busy and the money....well....I can't complain about that. :wink1:

I have had the '90 K5 for about 7 years now and so far have put in 4:11 gearing, 15" centerlines with 33's, smitty built tube steps, lightbar on top totaling 7 fog lights (2 up front and 5 up top), custom dash, few engine goodies and ~1500 watt stereo system. Future plans include new paint, suspension lift (thinking 8"), cowl hood, new front fenders, mirrors, bumpers, and soft top. The paint is hopefully getting done this summer.

Other than the blazer I have a '74 VW superbeetle that I am restoring/customizing and a 2003 Honda CBR 600f4i. My projects (K5 and dub) take up all the free time I get right now but I can't complain.

Hope to get to know everyone and look forward to finally coming out of the shadows. :D :saweet:

Hello, my name is Gus. I live in Alaska and I've been wheelin' since the late '60s. Except for a '75 eb all of my wheeling rigs have been Chevys. My current rig is a pile of parts awaiting assembly. I do have a picture of my wife's rig for now. It's based on a Suburban frame with 21.5 x 16.1 tires.

Im Jason from Cincinnati Ohio area I been looking around here for a while now getting ready to start on my 86 K5.
 
Hi, my name is Nick and I live in Atlantic Canada, I work for a construction company as a Cat rock truck driver, and I have a fleet of 73-87 GM trucks, my daily driver is an 85 Chevy K10 w/add a leafs, 31" bfg MT's and a Fisher snowplow, my other trucks are 1. 86 GMC K15 w/2.5" superlift susp & 33" mud kings 2. 89 K5 Jimmy stock rust bucket 3. 84 Chev & 86 GMC C10's that are parts trucks, I am hopeing to add a 89 Chevy k3500 single wheel crew cab soon I hope.

I hope to get some much needed info for my 86 K15 project truck that I plan to install 1 ton running gear in, to make it into a snow moving monster.

All I have ever owned for vehicles are the 73-87 GM trucks, I guess they grow on you.:D
