Blazer Newbie
Hello to everybody!
My name is Thomas, I live in Austria (Europe) and I'm new to vintage US-Cars. I always drove BMW and now Toyota Landcrusier, I like off road driving very much!
Funny story how I got my Blazer and first US-Car ever. I got it as a gift from a work mate of mine. Not knowing what I will get I took the Blazer over. It is a 79 K5 Cheyenne with automatic gear, power windows all around, air condition, diff lock, power steering, winter package and so on...I was impressed that those old cars have all the goodis of a modern car! However, I thought I will drive it a little and then scrap it. But then it turned out that the Blazer has been completely restored some years ago (engine and automatic gear rebuilt, new metal sheets, new paint job, etc.) and is in overall quite good condition. Just very minor matters and no broken or damaged things. So I started to invest time and money and finally I got crazy for old US-V8 engines and the Blazer in general! Great sound and power.
Installed new Flowtech headers, new dual 2 1/4 inch dual exhaust system, Edelbrock 500cfm carb, Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock camshaft. Renewed the suspension by a 4" Superlift all leaf system, new bushings, new pitman, steering arm, and Rancho dual steering stabilizer. Took off the carpet and rebuilding the floor for heavy duty utilization. Will use Protecta-Cote instsead of carpet. Got new Front seat from an Alfa 147. Restored all interior parts and the headliner. Will order new door boards and dasboard to completely renew the interior. Will also get a new paint job (RAL7022 umbragay). I hope I can finish my projet before sprint 2007, cause I want enjoy riding my new Toy
Btw... I also plan to change differential ratio. Have stock diff. gears (3,73 I think) and have 35x14,50 MT Baja Belted tyres. I still cannot deside wheter I shall take the 4.11 gear or 4.56...what do you think!? Can you recommend me something?? Please
So, enough the many words...cheers
Thomas
