Hello

Hello Guys, my name is Carl & I live in the seacoast of NH. I just picked up a 1986 K5. It needs a lot of tinkering but it is coming along nicely finally, just wanted to say hello.

Newbie

Hey all, I am from Rescue, CA. Which is close to Sacramento. I just purchased a 77 K5 for $300. I have always loved blazers just never got one. Well now is the time. Can't wait to dig into this thing. No motor. Some body cancer. Overall other than that good shape. 4" lift 33's Anyways I have always been a corvette guy. Got a Z06. Now it is 4wheelin time.

FNG checking in

Hi all,

I recently inherited a 1990 GMC Jimmy from my good friend who died in Feb.

The day he bought it (in 1989) I told him, "If you ever sell that thing I get first dibbs." Lots of great memories relating to this vehicle.

So, I'm here to learn as much as I can.

Thanks!

hey folks, another newb here......keith from wichita,ks. I stumbled across this siet lookin for a burb, looks like a pretty cool site.

Newb

Whats up everybody? Well to be honest this is my first 4x4 Truck. I am totally out of my element. I was a Rice guy, but now I want to run them over. Jokin, still got love for JDM. So I just picked up a 70 K5 Blue with white top, doesn't have to much rust. Just rebuilt motor (350) and trans( not sure). Brand new header back exhaust. Sound way better then a coffee can.

Introduction

Hi y'all. My name is Alex and I'm pretty new to the rebuild thing. I have a 95 4x4 Suburban with a 454 and just recently got a 1973 K5 from my father-in-law. He had been buying parts for years but was never able to work on the truck. The Blazer has sat for about 25 years and now it is time to get it ready to go again. (My son is soon to be 16). I am fairly mechanically inclined but have never attempted anything on this scale. I want to do things right the first time, doing them again just cost more. I created a site, www . 398HBX . com , to detail my progress so far. So far I have not done much other than create the site and try to inventory parts. If any of you experienced K5 owners have any suggestions, I would really appreciate all the help that I can get.

Thanks,

Alex

Hello everybody

Just joined cause I would like to get to know others w/ my type of truck. Shared miseries and all that.

Waht I have is a 82 f/s Jummy with the 6.2 bolted to a 700R4. Guy that I bought of from lied to me like a rug about its condition. Worst of all, I think that after I droveit and we made the deal, the (insert here) swapped engines on me, cause the Jimmy that I drove ran great, was not smokey and pulled strong. It also did not have loose motor mounts and exhaust flanges.

Anyway, 8 months and the national debt of Peru later (not to mention a few, uh "conversations" with my wife), it's back on the road. I have probably spent more on this truck that it was worth new, not accounting for inflation. I'm going to have to will this thing to my great-grandkids in order to get my money's worth here.

OTOH: Being retired army I love the sound of a diesel, and the 6.2 is an old friend. Kinda like having my own M1008 CUCV, except for upholstery, carpeting and all the other goodies that seperate a CUCV from a Sierra Grande model Jimmy.

I live in Colorado Springs with my wife, our kids (one of each), Moby Dick (our 97 Expedition), my '93 Jeep Wrangler with the Low Output 2.5, and an old Ford Taurus wagon that I got from my grandfather. Nice having a private fleet, I guess.

my name is adam im 20 ive always been around older chevys, i restored my first truck.. a 76 dually with my dad. and then i got a free 86 m1009 at age 16.. then a month ago i got a m1008 which i have already lifted. and its one of my favorite vehicles

Hello, I've been looking around this forum for a while but just became a member today. I have a 72 K5 that's in the process or receiving a 6.0 LSx/nv4500. I hope to work out some of the small details of the swap with the people around here. I am very familiar with old Chevy trucks, but this is the most involved project/swap I have ever gotten myself into. Thanks for having me.

78 k5

Hey!
My name is Gary and I am mainly a Subaru STI guy but i just got this 1978 K5 Blazer from my grandfather. It has been sitting for the last 9years in the mountains of colorado with the rear window down.... Yea, it is as bad as it sounds. it has been home to thousands and thousands of squirrels, a mother cat had her litter under the driver seat and of course the weather. I will post pics of the disaster tomorrow.

I will try to use this thread as a place to ask questions and recieve help as well as track my progress on the animal.

Excited to meet the Blazer crowd!

-Gary

ps. what do i have to do to gain access to the rest of the boards?

Whats up guys!

My name is Paul and I stumbled across this site and was like WOW! A K5 has been my dream truck ever since I can remember. I bought a jeep and had a lot of fun building, wheeling and fixing her up to my liking. Well after 8 years of good memories she had to go. =( Now I'm itching to get out on the trails again. I've made my decision on getting a K5, but I dont know what year to get and what the difference between the years are. I like the 70's K5's as the front end gets me everytime. Now for the 80's they look good to but its something about the 70's that gets me.

What would you fellas suggest as what year to get and what the major options where on those particular years so that I can narrow down my search..
I'm open to all suggestions. I would like to rear window to go down if possible in the 70's and would need to know what axel's come in what years. Top can be fully removable or only the rear portion is fine too.

Thank goodness for this site!

Thanks in advanced!

Welcome to CK5, Sounds like you have quite some work ahead of you. Make sure to post a build thread in the garage if you would like to track your progress. By becoming a member (25 bucks a year) you will get full access to the site and help to keep it running.

Hello all, Jimmy from south western pa. 70's Blazer frame with cj tub. pulling 14 bolt and 10 bolt to be replaced with rockwells on leaf springs for simplicity.

Thanks Gotblazer! That was really helpful and what I was looking for! I found it and narrowed it down to 76 and under! as they seem to have d44 in the front and 12bolts in the rear. Good platform to start on... Thanks guys and I will post pics as soon as I find the gem! Thanks CK5!

Hey everyone,
Just bought my first GM ever, 74 k5 blazer with cheyenne interior, full time 4wd and 350 engine.

someone pm me with some insight, got some wheels off a guy that was running them on a late 90s suburban, fit the stud pattern but are loose on the pattern till you draw down all the lug nuts, is this going to work or do i need different wheels? please pm me with some insight.

Thanks
