Hello from Texas. My first vehicle was an 89 K5 and so 15 years after regretting selling it, I got another 89 K5. It is pretty much stock. Plan to put a small lift to clear the 33's and would love to get a softtopper. I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions along the way.

Hello all, I wanted to take a min to introduce myself, again. . . . I was a member here YEARS ago as Uncle Fester, but I have closed out the email that I used back then and I decided it was just easier to rejoin and go that route.
Any way, I am a 49 year old kid (as of May), Married with three daughters, a son and three grandkids. We live in Bethany Ok (sub of OK City) and do wheel down here, but we go home ( Thornton & Westminster area ) just about every summer to see old friends and play in the mountains.

We just bought a 1996 K2500 Suburban this year, and it has a lot of the good stuff from the factory. 454 tbi, 4L80 trans, ??? T-Case, 14 bolt full floater rear, etc. We have added We have added 2002 Silverado aluminum wheels and 265/75/16 BFG All Terrain KO2s.

My plans are minor compared to some of the rigs I have seen on here, level it out by adjusting the torsion bars, 2" Bush Wacker Cut Out Flairs, 305/75/16 tires, Custom tube pre runner style bumpers front and rear with a 12-13K winch up front and swing out spare tire and 2 jerry can carrier out back, a roughly 5'x9' roof basket, 52" roof mounted LED bar and 6 3"x3"pods around the basket, and a Detroit Locker out back. I also plan some kind of custom rear cabinet in the rear area (maybe 1' tall and full width and 6' or so long)

This rig is my families daily driver and our camping, fishing, and ghost towning rig, so I want it simple and reliable.

Well, I think that is it for now. . . . let me know if you have questions and we will look for you on the trails.

Welcome new guys!

Hi. John from The ATL, home of the burning concrete bridge. My rig is a 1971 Blazer w/ a 400cu/3-speed Saginaw(!!!!)/Dana 20. Looking to get rid of that Sag & go automatic. I'd be grateful
To get pointed toward a good set of 'How To' posts to change to a 700r4....or even a 4LxOE

Thanks !

Hi all,

My name is Drew, and I'm from Denver. Just last week I purchased my second-ever vehicle, a 1989 K5. It's got the 350 and a 700R4. It's my first 4x4 vehicle and I hope to keep it for the rest of my life. I aim to keep it in great shape but also get a lot of use out of it.

Thanks in advance for welcoming me into the community!

Hello I'm Jeff I bought a 85 CUCV 1028 off a close friend of mine about 2 months ago.
I have had a few old cars that Ive wrenched on but this is my first 4x4 so I'm in learning mode.
It came with brand new 37s and new wheels on it so I lifted it 6 inches and have been dealing with a ton of deferred maintenance issues.
I will start my own thread when I can.
This forum is awesome for info Thanks

Hello my name is Allen from Ortonville Michigan, just picked up my first square body, 1985 k20 ls swapped, 4 linked front rear suspension, few future plans ahead for this truck back to fuel injection someday on the ls and maybe turbo, coil-overs with bed cage in rear instead of just coil springs, and probably drop to 37s instead of the 40s. and few other little things.

Greetings all,
New member from Spokane, WA here. Just picked up a '87 GMC Jimmy not too long ago. It is my second squarebody truck. Before my twins were born I had a '75 C-10 step-side that I used to love hot-rodding around. Sold that because it wasn't very practical with 3 kids. The twins are 8 now and my daughter is 13 and they love being in the Jimmy with the top off. We're going to fix it up a bit and use it as a camping rig (and my daily driver). My grandfather owned a couple squarebodies when I was growing up. My dad owned one too. Gotta keep the line going...
