Your in the right place. I know nothing about diesels myself but lots of 6.2 owners here. Even more former 6.2 owners here. And just as many 6.2 ball buster's but its all in good fun.Hey everyone. Just joined as I purchased a 1982 6.2 Diesel Jimmy just a month ago. At first glance everything appeared to be original with the exception of an Earl Scheib paint job and an ‘89 front grill but the further I dig, the more I see this baby has been hacked by her previous owners. No clue how many she’s had or her actual mileage. Clock shows 25,xxx miles (125, 225, 325?!) but has an original CA blue plate. Factory window sticker shows it was delivered in VA Beach, VA back in 1982 so it must have been brought to CA by end of 1986 and has been registered ever since. Front suspension components need replacing but has Rough Country leaf springs up front and blocks out back. Carpet has been removed due to a cowl/windshield leak I found and have already POR-15’d the passenger floorboard. Has a few small holes in the passenger floorboard. The motor looks like it’s been pulled before as it’s been painted red. Previous owner started it for me with starting fluid which I learned online will kill a diesel engine. Wonder if that has anything to do with how hard it is to start up... perhaps there’s some internal damage? Transmission slips every now and then in 1st and everything that holds fluid leaks but the trans and radiator. Got quite the project but have already done some rust repair, have added a new steering wheel with a working horn (bought without a horn button) and have replaced the ignition lock cylinder. Looking forward to learning about these trucks via this forum and hopefully making some friends. Cheers!
