so, who has run iroks in the mud?

mud is a major part of my diet, but i spend too much time on the street to justify the boggers. I'm not happy with my ssr's, so i'd like to hear some feedback on the irok's. thanks

I had 40s I really liked them. Depends on how much you drive on the street. If its gets driven alot I would just go normal swampers they will out last the Iroks

i'd rather go tsl's, but they don't make a 39.5 for a 16" rim, so that's why i'm considering the iroks.

what kind of life did you see out of your iroks? are they softer than my ssr's?

if the iroks are decent in the mud, I'll go with them, otherwise i'll have to buy new rims to run other tires. decisions decisions

I had a set of 41" iroks, Great for rocks, But for mud i would go with Tsl's. I did not like how the iroks performed in the mud.

my iroks are the best street swamper ive ever ridden on besides the truxas, mine ride better than the bfg mts that i got on my dd. they do ok for what mud ive had mine in but theres been time ive had to keep um at a pretty good wheel speed to get through sum deep holes

yeah, my truck is my daily driver, otherwise i'd run boggers.

the tsl's are the most sensible option, but i really don't want to buy new rims, unless i can find a deal. (they don't make tsl 39.5's for my 16" rims)

they reason i'm looking into the iroks is because the sizing is right, and the radial would be good on the street. the largest allowable tire at my local off-road park is 39.5, so i'm pretty set on running that size.

i've read some reviews on the iroks that praise them and say they are good in the mud, but there are others that say they suck in the mud, so i'm trying to get as many opinions as possible to aid my decision.

are the iroks outer lugs scooped? i'd imagine the iroks are considerably better in the mud than my ssr's but i dunno.

thanks

I bet that your park goes by measured size not read size. 40in tires will definitely get you in the door. Btw whats with the tire size limit?

yea i agree with Stomis, very few tires are actually what they read. so unless your park goes by what the tires says and not what it measures, you could probably get my with a 40

I used to run 33 x13.50x 15 Swamper LTB's and i drove 2 yrs on the road alot on them and had about 3/4 of the tread left when i sold them however they were on a 85 720 nissan 4x4 and those tires were great in the mud and pretty good on the street....

I run 36'' radial iroks and they ride great on the street! I have not worked them hard in much mud but they do well in moderate stuff. I really like how good they work in snow and ice.

I threw on a set of half worn SX's the other day and the iroks are alittle bit louder, mostly a different tone.

The Iroks aren't horrible in the mud, there just not as good as the tsl's. You just have to hit the gas pedal alittle harder. :D

iroks dont get life span on the street tho. soft rubber compound for traction.

i have changed a lot of them for other stuff and thay get 2x the mileage of iroks for comp price range.

thanks for the input guys.

if i'm doing iroks, i'm goin radial, in which case i think tread life will be better than the bias version, without sacrificing much off-road.

for those saying the iroks won't last long, are you refering to the bias, or radials?

i had 34" ltb's when i first got the truck. i really liked them, but aside from the 40's, which i can't run, they don't have many big size options.

as far as the park's tire limit rules, they go by read size, I asked them saturday, as it is a major factor in my decision. the park, "the cliffs," says they enforce the rule to keep the trails from getting to torn up. they claim the bigger tires dig it up too much, and the park's owners are suzuki guys, :surepal:, so that kinda explains it.

there is lot of mud, at the park, and at the local trails, so from what you guys are saying, i'm thinking i need to stray from the iroks. however, the iroks are available in a 39.5 to fit my rims, so i'd save money, and i need a winch. I'd just hate to make a another tire decision i regret. I like my ssr's, but they are just wayy to small. at any rate, It's gotta be 39.5's

what about a Baja claw, they have it in a 38.5 with 16 inch rim
i think your options are really limited if you cant change rim sizes. you could get the Trxus in a 38.5 but i couldnt find much else. you could find some old h1s and get them recentered but thats not cheap. i have some old 16.5s i would let go real cheap but im sure shipping would be expensive

yeah, i've started looking around for 16.5 rims. no luck locally, what do you have? if they are decent, i might be interested. email me a pic or something. don't really care for claws

Iroks are softer than ssrs they do better in the mud too (at least in our mud they do)

We might have different mud than other places but my Iroks worked very very good in the mud we have. I know they were on different rigs but my buddy with comparable power to me has 42"swampers and I did at least as good as him all the time and sometimes better. But we have a really weird kind of mud

Ever considered Pit Bull Rockers? I think they make the 39.5 in a 16 of course they are really wide

you know, the Rockers have a lot going for them, and they have gotten good reviews, but i don't know if i can put the 16.5" wide meat on my 8" wide rim. I really like the size, but that might be pushing it. what do you guys think??? that wide of a tire on an 8" rim???
