Is this a REAL 1 ton?

In most states a 1 ton is exempt from lift laws, so if someone wanted a true 1 ton and bought this they could have problems, I know Fl. is a bunch of pricks, they would impound it and inspect it for theft and stolen parts.

so its a 1/2 ton converted to a 1ton whats the big deal? it has a 14ff rear and a dana 60 front

It doesn't have a K30 frame, and that is a big difference. He should be advertising it as what it is.

I bought and special ordered a 1 ton 4x4 from chevy, brand new in 1985.
I have never seen a 1 ton that didn't have the cab lights and the lights on the tailgate.
The vin# says it isn't and I have never seen the seat he has as a factory item in a standard cab truck, especially that year.
The seat looks like it was out of a newer extra cab truck.
My guess is it was a 1/2 ton and was made into a "1 ton"

If I had to bet money, I'd bet half ton, but who cares if it's got the good stuff. If the reserve isn't much higher, it's worth it.

Just my $.02

All stock, it is "really" a 1 ton and no cab lights. They can be got that way. This was originally a fleet truck from Coca-cola.

Another problem is in places like Atlanta that 502 will not fly for emissions tests in a 1/2 ton. In a 1 ton it would be exempt. Sounds like a lot of problems for the buyer.

the axles are nice but the smaller frame, hydroboost (lack there of), smaller transfer case etc. you dont sell something as one thing if it is proven that its something else. i just emailed the guy the link to this conversation :D

i happen to have a title and VIN for an 81 K30 that went to scrap... and about $25K available credit on my credit card...

Anyone live near Bardstown KY. and know this truck, cause someone should educate him about one ton's. I am only 19 and I saw the difference right away.

i have first hand eye ball experence with my 1 true 1 ton frame and some 1/2 and 3/4 frames. thay are diffrent. easy way to spot is the crossmember will be close to flat on bottom of frame and others will be droped down some.

This is fun :haha: It's still a beautiful truck, the guy did a nice job so you have to at least give him that. If he just wasn't so stuck on the fact that it's a one ton and just accept that he's mistaken it would be so much easier. Oh well.
