Is this a REAL 1 ton?

That truck is not worth that much even if it was all original let alone being pieced together

You dont think its worth $8,000? Considering what parts that thing has thats a pretty fair price..

My statement was based on the buy it now price :D

But I would be leery of buying it or believing anything he has to say about the truck at this point.. He dosen't even know what the truck even is so how could he know the details or the history of the truck..

Not nessarily!

I've got a Sierra Classic (basically, GMC's Silverado) and I don't have A/C :)

Yet, I've seen a Super Custom (basically, bottom line) that has AC? I don't really think the trim levels mean that much, you can order a super custom with all of the options that a Sierra Classic would have had, or vice versa, lol

Only real difference is that the Sierra Classic package came with more options standard, but it technically cheaper to customize a super custom in some cases, lol

My K5 is a Custom Deluxe, same as the GMC 'Super Custom' and it came from the factory with A/C. That has since been removed but it just goes to say that you can get different options with certain packages. Personally I like the Silverado because of all of the finished interior pieces - carpet, headliner, side panels, cloth interior, tilt wheel. Would be nice to have on mine but when I made my own interior it was a lot easier starting with a truck that was pretty basic to begin with.

Anyways, I think that the seller was a little too thick headed early on and should of made sure that what he was listing was accurate. At least he did correct his mistake, but I don't know if i buy that his frame is a 3/4 ton. That seems like a little bit more exaggeration, but who knows.

Some A-Hole (sheshecroy) is messaging all my bidders telling them this is not a 1 ton truck - THIS IS A 1 TON - IT IS TITLED AS A 1 TON - REGISTERED AS A 1 TON - BEEN A 1 TON SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW - Some people (sheshecroy) think they know everything and love to throw a wrench in other peoples affairs, turns out this guy doesn't know anything about chevy trucks, I currently own 3 trucks this body style, i know a little about them. This idiot has been turned over to ebay, it is against ebay policy to contact another persons bidders and bash their item. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY AT [email protected] and i will give you my phone number, if you want i will fax you a copy of my title to prove it is a 1 ton truck. This is an amazing deal, you would have to spend over 30k to build this truck, i know, i have done it.

This guy bashes someone for not knowing about Chevy trucks when he obviously doesn't know much about them either. And how does owning 3 of something automatically qualify someone as an expert? I can own 3 piles of ostrich sh!t... but that doesn't make me an expert on it?

Not sure of the procedure for titling in KY where he is, but at my local tax office in TX, the lady behind the counter will enter anything you tell her when doing a title transfer. She also makes mistakes. I have a M1008 K30 CUCV buggy project with a title that says 1/2 ton just because I didn't tell her to put down 1-ton on the title app. With another truck, I told her the VIN was wrong (which it was) and she changed it on the spot in the computer with no proof needed!

I would assume the previous owner told their DMV that the title was wrong and had it changed to 1 ton.

my k5 is entered as a 1ton i believe at dmv, well entered as GVWR at 10,001+ so i could get perminant truck plates, so it wouldnt be considered a station wagon with a bumper height limit of 24". now my limit is 31" and i dont have emissions. havent be hassled yet :D

wish we could do that... you can "REGISTER" your truck as 80,000lb and they dont care for inspection ... .they go by GVRW on the VIN plate.. so mine is 8400.... now if I could only find one that is 10,001 or higher!!! they didnt start that until 2003 and good luck finding a crewcab complete in the junkyard cheap that I could drop on my frame!!!!!

my truck is a 3/4 ton with a installed d60 front, 14bolt ff stock rear and 1987 1 ton fenders.... so it should be badged as a 1 ton.. the fenders would do that :haha:

Yes Silverado is a trim level= a/c, power, tilt, the things this so called silverado does not have.

AC, tilt wheel, power windows and locks, and even carpet are not "Silverado specific" options. its basically body trim, and some interior trim. the other options can be had with or without the Silverado trim level. of this vintage, the Silverado also included a front grille and headlight treatment that was Silverado specific.

Here is a reply to a "polite" e-mail I sent the owner.

yeah i double checked the vin and it is right, body was originally 1/2 ton, frame is 3/4, diffs are 1 ton

I just told him that he had a nice truck, but according to the vin, it wasn't what he was advertising.

Sad thing is, he's still advertising the frame as a 3/4 ton even though it could still be the original 1/2 ton frame along with the body. Not that it matters, but......

HAHA... how funny. Good reason not to buy a rig off ebay. I sure the hell wouldn't. Is there even much difference between 1/2 ton and 3/4ton frames? 14in lift? Where? I see now body lift, and 14in springs? Rear springs look like 8in springs with small blocks...

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

id never buy sight unseen. and some people pay so much for exotics on ebay...they dont even know if the car is real...i dont get it

well screw swapping axles to become "1 tonned" i've got both the 81+ crowd covered, as well as the 99+ crowd. :D

dont look like the rear hanger is back in the 56" place to me. looks like 1/2 ton frame.

OK, after y'all tore up this guy (with a very nice truck by the way) , why dont you re-direct some of this mob energy toward the dorks with real miss labled crap on ebay? These 3 links are to trucks that truthfully state they are not one tons, But All claim to have ONE TON AXLES (one is a 10 bolt, with a s/f rear none the less. another appears to be a D44, could be wrong but it does show a 4th U bolt, so it surely isn't a 60, ... and one says it has one ton Dana 44...

10 bolt, and a 14bsf one ton axles.....

appears to be a D-44

Or this with the ever-elusive one ton D-44 (and a 4 shock seering stabalizer)

Are you suggesting we all hit the "Ask Seller A Question" link?

:D

Going against those with D44's or 10bolts is a whole different ball game. I don't even want to waste my time "battling" with them. :doah:
