its been a while i guess ill start a build thread..

Every so-called "pro builder" started out this exact same way... take on projects that push you outside your comfort zone, and learn a few small tricks or techniques each time. Before you know it, you'll have a solid foundation of experience to draw from and the bigger projects won't seem so out of reach anymore.

Be advised: A year from now, you'll go back and look at some of the work you are doing today and you'll probably think it's lousy. Don't sweat it..... as long as it's safe and functional, don't go back and try to re-do everything. The better you get at fabrication, the more critical you will become about your own work.

Well a little over a year later and I dug this rig out last weekend and began to start work again. What greg stated above couldn't be more true. Im glad I stopped working when I did. there is welds I'm going back over, cleaning up and fixing work I rushed thru before. Im going to finish boxing the frame (already ordered material) from the cab forward and back. I'm going to TRY to run a front radiator but its going to be tight. My goal is next year sometime to be wheeling. All the parts from my blazer are going in here minus the trans, t case and motor. They are all shot. No real pictures right now because its just been grinding and welding, ect.

Just looked back a couple of pages.....What are plans moving forward?

Defiantly needs some new picts, a lot of them are gone.

Most of the pics are gone because I've used Facebook as a host. Now I'm joined up on flickr so Im slowly adding pictures back in.

Plans are pretty much the same. 2.5 air shocks in the rear (still linked), running the same trans a t cases (already in the truck), adding my cab that I have here with 2 adult seats and 1 pre teen for my little girl. Im going to use a stock hood cut down and the rest of the front end will be tube. Exo like before but more protection around the cab corners and firewall. Not boasting it this time but am doing Rect. tube rockers. Here are the 2 trucks I'm looking at for inspiration.

I know their big money....But what about ORIs instead of air? They will cut out bump stops, limit straps and sway bars.

I already have the limit straps and bumps and have never felt the need for a sway bar. IMHO you only need a sway bar for go fast stuff or doing donuts or something similar. You really don't gain anything crawling with a sway bar. Sure it can get a little sketchy at speeds 25 or above but I won't be seeing any high speed with this thing. Fully hydro over 25 is sketchy enough without return to center. I can get a set of quality 2.5 air shocks for around 700-900 shipped. That leaves quite a bit of money left for other stuff as compared to ORIs.

I should also say that I've never wheeled a double triangulate 4 link as mine is single with just a little bit of angle on the lowers. This setup is typical used in more "high speed" setups so Its not the best for crawling but most definitely keeps the sway down, hence why I've never felt the need for a sway bar.

Just looking into the future after you get tired of the air shocks unloading at the wrong time and you want to up grade to coils or struts. Then your going to have to redesign the cage and who knows what else to make them fit.....How much are you really saving?

Is it done yet?

Unloading is easily controlled and should be with any air shock. A suck down winch or limiting strap in the center will solve those issues. No it's not done! Lol may talk to you about a frosty balls run in 2017

Coming from someone who has wheeled on air shocks before they get a bad wrap. They truly are great for crawling, saving money and adjustability. I think most people have issue because they run to small of a air shock. 2.5s are leagues aper from a 2.0
