dude it looks like sh!t but i might go back over it again this year maybe even use a spray gun instead of rattle cans. i just want to get it back on the road and atleast in 2wd ya know?? i found a 14 bolt on craigslist for $200 4.11 geared out o a 79 c20 so hopefully i can pick that up this week. then its back to looking for a trans and tcase.
its a friend of mine and it is a bad ass welder. he actually welds for his work and he told me this machine is around $4k to actually lay a bead (gas, wire, leds)
Thanks for the heads up didnt know that. how are they different. Ive found out the 14 bolt is still in the truck the guy lives and hr from me. im waiting for him to email me back but it might be a done deal. hes asking $200 and it look clean and painted glossy black in the picture.
(edit: pic from craigslist of the rearend i might be purchasing and he might have 56" springs)
So I'll be picking up that full floater next week sometime and some 56 inch springs (no use now just figured why not). I just bid on a hydro conversion "kit" on evilbay for a SM465. And I'm waiting on another response to a SM465 add on craigslist. It doesnt say the tcase but I am almost willing to put a NP205 in my truck. I'm going to need a new rear driveshaft regaurdless. Still need to find a trans xmember but i need to find out what Tcase is behind this transmission. Ive done more work on this truck the past 2 years than i have in the past going on 5 years Ive owned it. And this needs to be moved to the driveway who do I talk to about that??
I'm picking up a 4spd and 205 tcase tomorrow and the guy is shipping the hydro clutch stuff and pedals as soon as my PayPal account finishes getting set up and I'm stoked. Getting closer
Well I bought my transmission and transfercase for $200 today and a 1973 14 bolt (4.11 open) and some 56 inch springs for $250. I'm bidding on a hydro clutch belhousing, pedals, master cylinder, and all the other stuff to put a sm465 in. I'm so excited its like christmas to myself........... now on to the pictures
ordered my clutch/flywheel kit and 8bolt clocking kit from trail tech fab just now. those parts should be in on thursday. the guy is shipping my hydro clutch parts tomorrow. as soon as i get those parts in i will be able to mock everything up to get the cross member built for the trans. I will be swapping the rear axle in and converting it to disc brakes in the meantime. so close to having 2wd............. never thought i would be excited about that.
I also picked up pads and rotors for the rear and a used set of 4.10s for the front. I sold my old polished aluminum wheels and my old 700r4 (its can be used for a core thats about it) for $250 guy is coming next week to pick them up. Waiting on the hydro bellhousing and pedals to show up in the mail and I can start wrenching
Clutch and flywheel will be here tomorrow. I don't know yet if it will include pressure plate bolts. If not I will head to Fastenal and pick up some bolts and put the trans in this weekend I hope. Then I've got to figure out if I have the clearance to go Flatbellyish with the clocked NP205 and make a cross member accordingly then measure for driveshafts. Its getting close to being driveable. ive got a month and a half to finish it.
Well I got the clutch/flywheel kit in today. The K5 is at a friends house and I hope to go over there sunday to start putting the trans in and putting the pedals and hooking all the hydro clutch parts up hopefully bleeding it. Then I just have to stick the 14bolt FF under it and swap to rear disc and get some hoses to put between the hardline and the calipers. I can bleed both those while I finish fabbing up the crossmember to tuck the tcase and trans up as far as I can and not have any shifter issues. Then its driveshaft measuring time but I'm still looking for a stock rear slip style drive shaft to just bolt in since I wont be lifting this truck till after I'm out of basic. I still am gonna change all fluids, I have some ZDDP additive and new air cleaner coming via Jegs that should be here tuesday or so. But on to the pics
Got my air cleaner in today. I still havent gone an actually worked on it yet. Since its at my friends house and me and him have just been busy as hell lately and havent had time to sit down and start working on it. But heres the picture of my air cleaner
Ok well I got the auto pedals out and I swapped in the full floater and put the rear disc on. Still need the lines and grind down the calipers to clear my 15 inch wheels. I sold my old clocking ring to boondock but I've gotta drill out a bolt and get another one to ship it out to him (hopefully will get the bolt tomorrow and I'm going over to drill out the bolt tonight). My steering box is leaking and I'm at a cross roads. I want to run 52s up front and I've got 56s for the rear. I dont really have the money for crossover right now but my steering box is leaking. And my goal is to drive it before I leave for basic in 6 wks. Ive still got to find a rear driveshaft. I've got to put the trans and tcase in, but I have to make a crossmember b/c I cant find one to save my life. I have to redo my starter cables and it needs exhaust. I cant run the exhaust without lifting it. I did see where if you us the B52 mounts you can keep the front axle in almost the stock location. If I use a raised steering arm and put 52s up front can I use the stock steering? and yes I know it wont flex as well. I'm so close to having it driveable But yet some things have to be done just make things work to make it driveable.
lol my bad man it went like this for i dunno how long and i didnt know how long it would go for.......it started being a i wonder how long it will take them kinda thing.......... but thanks rene
I ordered stainless steel rear brake lines from ORD so I can bolt my calipers up and bleed the brakes. Hopefully I'll get out there tomorrow and work on it. I gotta hot date tonight.
