jeep stuff and now a volvo!

I think its jut the cause you can thing. Why spend $150 on a d44 that will bolt right in when i could spend $50 and a million hours of labor to get a 10 bolt to do the same thing?

Ok one more and then i'll stop clogging your thread.

Ummmm......sure. I will just spend the money and keep my headaches at bay

I will have to post some pics of this s10 thing. It's 3 linked in the front with homemade suspension stuff. Oh and all done with a stick welder.
It works though. Welded front 10b and a gov loc 10b rear.

That sounds gross. Anyway, i dunno. If it was easy/cheap enough it seems worth it. But everytime, logic steps in and says, Stop It! Get a dang Ford D44 and be done. Not like im ever going to do a SAS on my junk anyway. Although it sure is fun to fantasize about.

When do you sleep with all this dreaming you do.....

Or maybe you have too much time on your hands....:dunno:

:D

Bought some parts today. In order to run 5 lug in the front with Chevy knuckles I needed a hodgepodge front setup.

I traded the 8 lug ford stuff for 5 lug ford stuff
Got a set of chevy flat tops knuckles from cochev
Then got a complete 76 k5 d44 with another set of flat tops for $40! Score. I also needed he spindles, stub shafts and caliper brackets from it.

So this is what it will be

78 hp f250 housing. Narrowed
Dana 50 gears in 4.88 ratio. That's a 9" ring gear btw
Waggoneer inner shafts
Chevy knuckles, spindles, stub shafts, calipers and brackets
F150 wheel hubs and rotors.

I also got a line on a arb for $450 and some 4340 inners and outers from a Chevy for $250. The inners are too long, but Dutchman will cut em down for $95. I think that seems worth the effort. $350 for 4340 shafts is damn cheap.

I'm not sure if I have any locking hubs yet, but the d44 came with pucks in it :laugh:

Oh no, no discrimination. That's just how the old jeeps were, a hodge podge of parts. The dauntless v6 is one of my fav motors...

got some stuff done.
sold the inner shafts from the gm d44 for $20
sold the housing for $20
so im even there. :waytogo:

bought a 88 waggy front axle from a buddy for $160 minus steering.
took the shafts out of it that I needed. sold the rest for $180. :woot:

now I have all the parts I need other than gears/locker. I even have an extra set of stub shafts.

got my knuckle drilled and tapped for $60

did some wheeling on the 13th. hit firebreak 5, archers, hogs back, rocky uphill.

found some DEEP snow. ended up stuck there for awhile. added a few more dents.

Notice the rear 33" tire in the last pic.
