jeep stuff and now a volvo!

Since I work on that side of town now, I will have to swing it by once I get the big hairdryer installed

I don't post pics of this often. But I bought this new in 2001. It was on the last truck load of xj's delivered to the dealer I worked at. I sent my wife down to the delivery lot to look at a silver limited. She called me back and said "they have a yellow one!"
First thing we bought together. Brought my dog and my oldest son home in it.
Well. The time came. Sold it to my fil. He said he will give it to my oldest son when he is 16. It only has 73k miles now. He doesn't drive much.
Here it is all cleaned up and ready for delivery. Seriously going to miss it.

More pics if the shiny stuff. It even came with a MLS cometic head gasket.

Too bad the crank will be inside the engine. It's beautiful.

Not sure. I spent my transmission money on this stuff.

The block still needs work. I need to drill and tap it for the turbo drain. Mock everything up and make all my turbo drain and pressure hoses. Figure out my oil cooler lines. Build a new engine harness for megasquirt.
The good thing is I can put it all together on the stand before hand.

I still need injectors, the megasquirt stuff and figure out a clutch

I threw the crank in to start mockup, check all my clearances. Verify the Piston height, Calculate the actual compression ratio, gap the rings....well I got the crank in. I couldn't get the floating pin locks in. I will have to youtube that. I've only done pressed pins before. But since I couldn't get them in, I slapped some external stuff on to stare at until I get those locks installed.

Checked the crank endplay. Found it at about .0025.

Spent an hour after watching youtube trying to get the $&#*ing piston pin locks in 1 piston.

Did the other 3 in about 10 minutes.

Installed the Pistons with bearings. Checked the height. Found them to be dead on at zero deck just like they where sposta be.

Took it back apart. Went to test fit the rings.......no go. Wrong top ring. Second and oil are right.

Top ring. .056"
Groove. .040"

Second ring .045"
Groove. .047"

So now I need to call wiseco and get the right ones.

I haven't updated this in awhile.
I got the engine blueprinted. Drilled and tapped for the turbo press. And drain. I just need to pick up the core engine. To build my oil pan and stuff.

Got a new toy
