Jennifer's "Orange Crush"

Sadly, didnt get any action pics, but we took it out today so Jen could pop her wheeling cherry with it. Went up FS379 and did the Mt Baldy loop. Due to work I havent made any more progress on the build, but she did damn good today. The most Jen has ever done was driving around in the desert in Phoenix in a YJ, so this was her first time on an actual trail with some rougher spots, and first time wheeling the K5. Took a few guns out and the kids had some fun popping off rounds and kicking back by the stream for lunch.
Jen is definitely hooked hard now, and is pushing me to do more to her truck. I told her the mods will progress as fast as her experience, so she wants to wheel it all the time now, lol

I guess there are a few pics that some people got on the trip that ended up on facebook, I'll throw them up here too

It has them, I just popped them off before we went out since theyre in great shape, didnt want to bang them all up. Some portions of the trail are covered in rocks from fist sized up to basketball sized. The hill that the blue Heep high centered on and got winched up was the easier of the rocky ones. Owner of the white Heep with all the money dumped into it's suspension couldnt believe the stock 45 year old K5 on 28" tires handled everything like a champ

Thanks! He's my buddy and goes everywhere with me, he even has appoinment orders as my company's XO! He's lovingthe K5, the kids just threw his spare bed on the floor in front of the back seat and he chilled the whole time no matter how tippy the truck got

You should buff it once, to see how the paints shines up. Going to take the top off?

Martin

I would, but the paint isn't in the greatest shape besides the fading. Eventually the top will come off and I'm doing all the body rubber when I pull it. Right now its mechanical time first though since she's gonna drive it all winter.

Which brings me to the next update! So it leaks a little coolant, and its gone through a quart of atf without leaving a drop so I figured it's time to get underneath and see if there is anything that I can do without needing some else to be my hands.
Coolant leak was the freeze plug above the starter. I got the old steel one out and a new brass installed, but probably shouldn't have done it myself. Working in the driveway especially. Got it done, yet the left side of my body was numb by the time I was done, so the rest gets addressed tomorrow.
Tomorrow brings hei swap, plugs, wires, rocker cover gaskets, valve lash, and if I'm not hospitalized by then, new door hinges

Great truck and lucky find man, I'm super jealous because you beat me to it! Looks like you'll do a great build of it.
