Consensus seems to be you should put a hitch on there so get it done.

We frenched my hitch in to tuck it up high. But I won't be towing. Just an easy way to add a step to get into the camper.

I would mount the receiver in the bumper like @500$k5 did. On the crew cab it came with a frame mounted receiver, I redrilled the mounting holes for the piece that goes between the frame bracket plates to tuck the receiver up higher and under the truck a little more.

You also haul your truck around, at least to Blazer Bash anyway...

The one and only time.

Just don't see the need for a hitch on a truck that realistically can't handle much weight and I have two other trucks with hitches.

This isn't your build anyway. I can go over to your thread and tell you to install a hitch and you can give me your excuses there. :tongue1:

:haha:

I'm sticking up for Dave! Next you'll be telling him to paint his diff covers pink :doah::D

Well I finally have a little to report. About a month ago, @Bent77 stopped by an informed me that I had an exhaust leak, which he couldn't believe that I couldn't hear. After buy a stethoscope, I found the left collector loose. (Above the 02 sensor) I now have more parts to put into the exhaust, but my time to work on the truck has been very slim lately.

So that is yet to get improved upon..
I has the front driveshaft shortened 3/4" after some more checks. (It was originally made for a K5 with a 10B front, not a D60) That is wait to go back in after exhaust work.

So after lots of time working around the house, some family time after my Mom broke her leg, and some for sanity, I finally got the rear bumper ready to get sandblasted after being out in a few rain storms.

I used 3"×4" 1/4" wall square tube for the ends. I want it to hopefully slide if it ever drags on a rock, and not be able to hold mud or junk on an inside lip.
The ends were put on with a slight compromise to work with the old body. It's not a perfect truck.
I also added some 1/2" round bar under the holes for the flood lights to hopefully act as skids to protect the lights.

I haven't decided yet if I want to put pipe plugs in the bottom for drainage.
But I'm only about a month and a half behind...

I would think about running a tube from the brackets to the ends of the side slider pieces. But it does look like a very nice bumper.

I had thoughts about exactly that. Then @Bent77 and I were discussing it, and his opinion was that was overkill. He's bent more stuff, and wheeled more than me, so I decided to leave it off.

And he is kinda like an expert on bending things...

What a minute! Since when did overkill become a thing to avoid on CK5?

Yeah, I think @6872xtc has his thought process backwards. You need to be talking to an expert in NOT bending things. :doah: :shame:
