Now that I am at my computer....
I have come to the conclusion, after talking with Eileen and some friends, that I should not be traveling long distances alone anymore. I am still having memory issues and getting lost. Fatigue and no energy. Lack of will to do anything. At least like I used to. This has not been a knee jerk discission. Mark and I have been discussing each of us doing something different for a couple of years. Part of why we turned BB over to Rob. He was given the family heirloom race car. I had been leaning that direction even before that.
There is a lack of close wheeling other than mud. I hate mud. Was tromping around in it this morning while working on the backhoe. That is another story. The Jimmy is not being used and I really don't see it getting used. No one wants what I built. Little axles and anemic drive train. Everyone wants tons and 40's. Selling it hole for any kind of money is far fetched. I can get as much for the shocks and bump stops as I can for the entire running truck.
I have done the wheeling thing long enough. I get bored doing the same thing over again. And I have done everything the Jimmy is capable of and beyond in some instances.
Now for the future.
I have an 1/8th mile drag strip 8 miles from my house. The new owners are doing a bunch of upgrades already. Signed a 5 year contract with IHRA. A 1/4 mile strip 45 minutes away. An old 1/8th mile track being re-opened 2 hours from me in WV. 3 more within 3 hours drive time. That I can handle.
As the jimmy sits, it has a full cage. Stripped frame and supper ridged. Currie Extreme Duty rear housing with their 9+ nodular center section, 4.56:1and a 35 spline Detroit. Replacing the axles with 5 lug, one of the existing is bent. Strip some of the cage out that is not needed, Fiberglass 1/4's, fenders and hood. Possibly a straight axle front end. I hope to get it down to about 4k pounds. We will see. Tremec 5 speed possibly. I have a line on a freshly rebuilt Lenco 3 speed, but I really want overdrive for Drag N Drive events. Power plant will be either one of my 454's or the LQ9. Not sure yet.
I have been looking at built cars for sale. But I am buying an unknown car that I will still have to go through.
So, a lot to think about. It will not happen in a hurry. I have work. A house to build. And a boat to finish. I really want to swap the LT1/L86 into Fugly also. Lots of plans. No energy or time.
Wish me luck and bump this thread every now and then to move me along.
