K10: Built HP60/241-205 Doubler/tons of tube

While I'm waiting on the axles I'm shifting back onto the doubler. I pulled the exhaust, crossmember and old 208 case out this afternoon. Spilled just about everything I could spill in the process too. :)

Put the adapter off my 208 onto the doubler for a test fit. Can I just use RTV here instead of the gasket that was on it? The other side uses an 0-ring but where the adapter mates to the case I wasn't sure if RTV would hold up.
In that bag is a new Poly mount to go with all the other poly mounts I've been swapping to.

Well here we go...

The master install kit for the 14 bolt just showed up today so he started on it this afternoon but wasn't quite done when I got there so I just picked up the front...

5.38's, all new bearings/seals everywhere, an ARB and welded tubes...

Cleaned it up a little, painted the housing then bolted on the Ruffstuff diff cover. That thing is beef and with the countersunk allen bolts it turned out pretty clean...

I placed another order with Ruffstuff last weekend during their Mother's day sale. Ordered a diff cover for the 14 bolt, disc brake brackets and a pinion guard. The cover showed up today and the other box with the brackets and guard are supposed to be here tomorrow.
Got the cover all painted up tonight so it's ready when I pick up the 14 bolt Monday after work.

Just kept the paint flowing and painted the 60 spring plates so they'd match...

I forgot how massive all this stuff is compared to my old 10 bolt, I pulled the calipers out while digging through the box to find the spring plates and they're friggin' huge...

So tomorrow I'm kind of tied up with something that doesn't have a set time which can ruin a day as far as I'm concerned but I'll continue to tinker with the linkage on my doubler while I'm waiting. I'm not going to post pics of that until it's done... but it's going trust me. :)

Cool! I'd like to do the ruffstuff covers specifically because of the countersunk bolts. I'm slightly on the fence because I find their customer service to be annoying at best, but I think their quality is fantastic, and the countersunk bolts are just bomb. I should see if they have a drain plug option...

Like Steve just said they do have the option for that stuff...

Nobody has come close to the quality of customer service and incredibly fast shipping WFO offers but I can't say I've ever had a problem with Ruffstuff. I think his diff covers are the best deal on the market and coupled with his regular substantial sales you just can't pass it up. Heck I saved almost $50 on that order last weekend just by waiting until he had a sale.

You might want to check the spring plates for fitment. The one I got recently the holes weren't big enough to fit over the spring center pin. I had to buy a 5/8 drill bit to drill out the center pin hole bigger.

Well my project this morning went pretty fast so I have some time to get some work done on the truck. I had to help disassemble and load a pool table from my grandma's enclosed patio. It has an 1 1/16" thick slate top, full 4'x8' table... UGH that was heavy. :doah:

Came back home to find my second box from Ruffstuff.

Tossed some paint on the pinion guard and disc brake brackets before I go find some lunch...

I went and picked up some rotors and got the hubs pulled from the drums and pressed into the new rotors. I was going to put the bearings/seals in the knuckles and get the steering arms put on so the knuckles would be all bolted down but realized I didn't take care of the grease zerk on the lower knuckle spindle/cap. It's busted off so I need to drill it out and countersink it into the spindle a little and re-tap it.
I'll tinker with that this week at work.

When I get the 14 bolt monday I should be ready to bolt it all together and get it slid under the truck.

I got the 14 bolt back from the shop after work, looks great but I didn't expect anything else after seeing the good job they did on the front.
I wanted to get it all painted up and get everything bolted on but somehow I forgot to pick up the allen head bolts for the diff cover. :(

I got the housing painted and got the pinion guard bolted on with some new grade 8 bolts that are 1/2" longer to compensate for the 1/2" plate Ruffstuff uses, it's pretty beefy.

I'll pick up the bolts for the cover and get it put on tomorrow night.

I ran by Napa and picked up some new calipers and pads for the disc brake conversion so they're ready to go when I get that far.
