Hey man just out of curiosity what brand and size of welder did you use on all the fab work you did?? I'm looking into getting one soon so just thought I'd ask, all the welds look real good. I've got a few years of welding and building experience but finally want my own welder.
Hobart Handler 187. It's been a fantastic unit.

Ok thanks guys! I've been back and forth between either a lincoln 140 or 180, or the 140 Or 190 Hobart.
If you have the money I would go with a 220 volt welder. Building stuff for offroad I use a lot of 3/16" or 1/4" plate, DOM, and etc. I wouldn't use a 110 because I would have to make multiple passes.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking, everything I'll be welding will probably be 1/8-3/8 inch stuff. Probably either be the lincoln 180 or the hobart 190. Thanks guys. And great job Avery the truck has definitely come a long way!

I wheel with my two friends (chevysmithz71 and frizzlefry on here) and a couple other local friends who aren't on here. We also wheel with the guys from norcal big dogs based out of the bay area.

Oh well that's cool, was just curious if there was any clubs in the area since I'll be doing a lot of wheeling in the bald mtn and the red lake and coyote lake area since I'm only a couple hrs from them. Well thanks for the welder input guys!
Those are our stomping grounds. The guys at http://www.4x4him.com/ are good guys and they are active up in that area. During the summer you can almost always find a group headed up there on a weekend.
Clovis Independent Four Wheelers is the other big one around here. They organize the HUGE moonlight madness run every year.

Thanks for the links man! When I get my truck done Id definitely like to get involved with a group that is in the area. I'm only about 45 mins south of Fresno so those wheeling areas are pretty close. Appreciate the help.

Man I was excited to see an update. Can't believe the last post was a year and a half ago
I've done maintenance but not much that's post worthy. I'm contemplating some major changes soon though. Getting burned out on trails and wouldn't mind making the truck more dune friendly.
I was wondering about that cuz I thought made a post about dunes recently. Didn't you buy a sxs for the sand tho?
Yeah and I loved it but recently sold it to focus back on the truck.
The k10 would need to be gutted from the frame down and some stuff cut off and changed to save weight for a trail truck to dune truck conversion. I've also thought about fixing the cosmetics and seeing what the market would bring, if it's enough I'd sell it and start with a fresh truck.
Or more likely sell the tbi350, 700r, 241/205 and driveshafts then build with what's left.
Heavy trucks do fine in the dunes.
