Have you made an assessment on the wider rear end?

Rob

Nope, not yet. Been busy with work stuff and frame clean up (cutting off unneeded brackets and laying some fresh paint) during what little time I’ve had to work on it. This is where it sits at the moment. I got the axle in yesterday afternoon and centered (side to side) with the U-bolts just snug enough to hold it in place. Next up is to set the pinion angle then start measuring out plan to mount the Bilstein 7100 shocks on RuffStuff shock brackets.

It looks wider. My eye micrometer says about 1.5” on each side (y)

Naahh, he isn't THAT short!!

:haha:

Hehe, I am short but Zoomad is the one with the fat azz. :haha:

Ouch! That's it for me being ballast to your ancient cherry picker so it don't go ass over with a big block swinging from it!

To be honest, Larry suffers more from Noazzatall syndrome. Not sure how his pants stay up without a belt.

Well, she definitely has a wider stance in the rear now although the fender flares help hide it in these views. Maybe a tall taller too. The ORD spring perches must be a little taller than the OEM perches but I think it will be alright. Once I load it up for a trip it ought to settle right down to level.

Next up I still need to install the drive shaft and start working on the driveline angles then weld in the spring perches. After that, measure it up for Bilstein 7100’s then figure out where the hell I am going to mount the air compressor and air tank. Oh, yeah....still need to build some brake lines for the axle too. Still pisses me off nobody makes a E-locker for a 14 bolt :dunno:

Hey, Larry.........how big of a compressor and tank. I just finished installing the Viair 10007 on my 87 K5. I'll post up pics in my build thread this Saturday to show where I put the 2.5 gallon tank and compressor.

All in fun buddy! To take a page from Pontiac, you got the Widetrack drive now! I like the look. Oh and my K5 thanks you. I know I'll be following you on the trip (since I don't have the power to pass you!) I at least won't have to break out the degreaser to clean my ride when the axle would have started to piddle like a scared dog...

I’m going all out for an ARB Twin (CKMTA12). I also find a nice spot to install the compressor and big 2.5 gal Viair tank between the camper interior wall and inside the passenger’s bed side without much of a hassle. The compressor will bolt to the lower portion of the camper wall and the tank will be mounted on top the passenger’s side rear wheel tub between the bed slab and lower camper wall. I will have to make the existing access hole inside the camper 1 inch bigger in order to shove the tank down there but not nearly as intrusive as I thought it was going to be. It will all make more sense once I get the goods and get them installed. I made some card board mock up boxes the same dimensions as the tank and compressor and they look to fit according to my plan. We’ll see! :dunno:

Did you get yours all mounted up?

If I could burden you guys to click this link and vote for my picture in the annual Overland Expo photo contest that would be great. I’m 10 votes short of being in the running (need 100). We can’t let those Toyota, Land Cruiser and Heep guys have all the fun. Voting ends tomorrow (3-8). You can vote tonight and again tomorrow! :sneaky:
