K10 gets an ass transplant

I forgot I had two pictures in the running. Got one more that needs votes. I noticed you can vote a few times a day...once on wifi, once on cell data and another if you have wifi at work.

This pic needs 45 votes so pretty slim chance of making it in 24 hours. Please vote if you can... http://woobox.com/s2w78o/gallery/rmrC8YqAxMs

Already down to 39, in just 14 minutes! :waytogo:

Thanks to those that voted to help get an old gasoline powered American truck picture in the finals. I doubt I will even get chosen to be one of the 8 for the next round as there are lots of nice pictures and I am not one of the “In Crowd” guys of OJ, OX and EP. If you follow any of that Expedition Portal, Overland Journal and Overland Expo you know exactly what I mean.

Back to regular scheduled ass transplant tuning….

Whelp, a few pieces showed up today. Got the Viair tank mocked up. Looks like it is going to fit real nice just as I had hoped it would. $68 seemed like a decent deal through Amazon

Had to make the hole 1” wider to sneak the tank in there. The ARB Twin compressor will live inside the front access hole. The nice thing about putting the compressor and tank in this location is the fact they are actually mounted outside the truck/camper but yet still get fresh air while still being pretty well protected from the elements. Those access holes are actually there because that is how you access the straps that fasten the camper to the eye hooks inside the bed. Also a good place to store dirty stuff like oil, coolant, spare parts, etc.

While I was perusing Amazon this ARB Differential Breather Kit struck my fancy. It has four ports so you can connect both axles, the trans and tcase to it then mount the head somewhere up under the hood. Now just got to find a spot….

Won’t get much more done for a while as I have more work travel coming up. The good news is I’m going to Seattle so I plan to swing by the ARB USA office there and check out their stuff and get some pointers on compressor and tank hookup. Might poke them in the eye for being dicks about the missing O-rings from the locker box while I am there too :shame:

I’m going all out for an ARB Twin (CKMTA12). I also find a nice spot to install the compressor and big 2.5 gal Viair tank between the camper interior wall and inside the passenger’s bed side without much of a hassle. The compressor will bolt to the lower portion of the camper wall and the tank will be mounted on top the passenger’s side rear wheel tub between the bed slab and lower camper wall. I will have to make the existing access hole inside the camper 1 inch bigger in order to shove the tank down there but not nearly as intrusive as I thought it was going to be. It will all make more sense once I get the goods and get them installed. I made some card board mock up boxes the same dimensions as the tank and compressor and they look to fit according to my plan. We’ll see! :dunno:

Did you get yours all mounted up?

Regarding the ARB Breather Kit, 170112, it only comes with 26 ft. of tubing, which isn’t near enough tubing to plumb up a full-size truck. If you order up a breather kit plan on ordering an extra tubing kit 170113 kit as well. The pisser is by the time you buy the breather kit then the extra hose you have over $100 in venting....hmmm, not so sure their fancy dealeo is worth that much.

Also, the tubing is obviously made for little foreign vehicles as it has a pretty small I.D and does not fit over any of the vent ports on our old rigs. They say you can heat up the tubing with hot water but I doubt the tubing would stretch that much. I used a piece of 3/8 oil compatible hose as a union. Still have to figure out a place to mount the actual breather under the hood

Getting pretty busy under there…
