Wait why replace the ball joint, then replace the axles...???:dunno:

But im diggin the covers!!!:thumb:

I've got two sets, 3.08s on the truck and 4.10s getting ready to swap in. Balljoints on new axle are bad so making it 100 percent before I swap in.

Ahh ok lol, I thought you meant the ones on the truck that were coming out. My bad lol.

Thanks for the comments guys, but axle installation may be delayed for some time. Now ive only got one truck to drive, hit a deer in my 83, see my 83c10s thread for more info.

Ball joints are in.hardest part was getting old ones out. Used a 2 foot brass punch, about 3" in diameter, knocked top loose then took insert loose then bottom. New moog joints of course. Me and my buddy took the rear axle out tonight, clean the perches and its ready to bolt new one in.

He just bought a 76 k20 with a 4 speed 205 that I'll post pictures of later. farm truck for sure but fixed yoke. Im taking him into twin sticking it before winter. Needs a ton of work, maybe more than my white truck, lol.

ordered a shackle flip and some 4.5 front shackles form kert at diy4x, gonna order some bds front springs and hardware either off their site or from the local guy. going 4" front lift for now, already have the steering arm. (thanks willie).

Ive got to drop the gas tank because where the fill comes in came loose and makes the truck stink like fumes pretty bad. Open container rule? haha. I really need to replace my mufflers, and seeing as my current tail pipes aren't going to work with a shackle flip, it may be time to quiet the beast. Running one muffler on a dual exhaust has its advantages till your trying to be sneaky, then everyone can hear you.

Sadly, I think its gonna be rolling on 32's for now, going to keep my eye out for some 4.56 3/4 tons, if not Ill think about regearing a set to 5.13s and maybe military suruplus, but thats down the road. I think Ill enjoy just a lift and maybe some cheap 33s or 35s if i can find some.

4" bds front springs and box kit ordered, 001401 and 011001. Tapped into my savings to make sure I didnt run my bank account under my "safety" level (not zero, a couple full fillups and some food). I get paid thursday less than my normal check (taking off alot for school lately, hard semester), plan to order my brake lines then. Dont know when im gonna order my shocks, but I may haul some scrap next week to help that bill. Aiming at april 7th for tuttle creek, even if im on 32s!

New gas tanks in and mufflers on. Got a b+m trans temp gauge and summit alum trans pan on order. Feels great to drive it again.

Did you ever find a set of 3/4 ton axles?

Here is a 1973 3/4 ton. It's an automatic, which sucks, but it is a 1973 so it will be a TH350/NP205 combo with fixed yokes front an rear on the NP205. The front Dana 44 has the weaker external knuckles, but it will also have flat top knuckles.

All of that, and Steinauer is just a short drive over the state line.

Yeah, I am usually not a big fan of painted diff covers, but those do crack me up.
