Always checking out different products , etc.

When would one consider hydro or Air bumpstops over the conventional rubber ones?

I can see trophy trucks and pre-runner, but what about normal DD and casual off roading.

Also should they be put on the front and back or just fronts?

You can use Timbrens (spelling) on both front and rear and are for heavier weights.

Hydraulic bump stops are nice for a smoother application and its easier on your truck when you use them. Air bumps and combinations are if you plan on getting air or hard hits to the front or rear.

can be used both front and rear....if you get longer ones then that will lessen your travel upwards. factory style are not going to make anything smoother, they are not gradual.

last i recalled air bump stops can be adjusted with nitrogen/ air/ C02 and can have different pressures.

I would get hydraulic for the price and if your not planning on 15 foot air jumps. just regular wheeling

I'm diggin my Timbrens....never harsh like poly or rubber bumps I've had in the past.

The blue tape line is how much the timbren compresses...in this case about 2"

The rear setup:

I have timbrens on my front setup. Seem to work pretty good. Used to have air bumps on rear when coilovers but removed when I went to ORIs. When I put my ORIs in the front I have a pit of mini poly ones I'll install.

Zim, does that Burke suspension have a website, I couldn't find it and everything I found online for Timbrens was like $200 for 2...

I got mine from thar Burke spring too. They were a vendor on pbb for a while. I just called and told them my rig specs and they suggested the timbren that would be best. Think was right at $100 for the pair. Watch eBay too, they are designed to be an overload suspension deal.

they look like they'll crack and split after a few hard hits:dunno: Shouldn't,, but they look like it.

just for the record, they mount with a bolt through the center into a mounting plate of some type,(I made my own plates)...I had to carve out some of the access hole to get a socket onto the bolt. Or one could use a socket head capscrew and a long allen wrench.

Please explain, Im not prerunning or anything. Zim if you got all 4 for 126 shipped I'll send mine back to amazon. Thank goodness for their return policy :D

Mostly cause I have seen dozens of that style split, they will take a couple hard hits but if you hit em hard, such as falling off a large rock or a sudden shift where one side goes up quick they move too much, that leads to them beginning to twist while being compressed. I believe that is what starts the split then every time you hit em they just get worse.

The other thing that can happen is while compressing they shift,if there is anymore compression to be had it will tear them off their base mounts.

Mount your bumpstop so it hits straight, which is only possible under either articulation or under static bump, whichever one you are going to be doing more of is how you mount em

Jess you will not regret getting timbrens

Let me see if I can find the reciept for them, but I posted in my thread 126 shipped so I'm confident thats what they were. I ordered that particular # on their advice, and they seem to be working dam well. Not harsh at all, and definitely don't feel the "crash" that I have with other simple bumps.
