linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

So I forgot to put the new sticker on our Jeep license plate, (the registration is still paid and it’s still insured) well it got towed for not being registered while it was parked at my apartment building. It got towed 13 days ago making the bill $798, never got a warning and we haven’t been there. It looks like the general consensus is they’re a shitty place though. Going to put doubler parts on hold for a while.. :/

Just had that happen to my son at his Apartment complex near Glendale in metro Denver. His month expired, but as most in CO know we got one month grace period . Didn't matter. F'ing sobs yanked his truck from the lot without warning or so much as a note. Poor kid thought his truck got stolen. Missed work due to no wheels too. Had the wife go up and help get it out of hock, but not before they took him for a couple hundred bucks.

We tow here at work. However we don't tow off of private property. Technically it's Grand theft to tow without permission or by direction of local law enforcement. These guys are playing in the grey area as there is probably something in the lease that says they have the right to tow abandoned vehicles (including those with expired tags). I just know we won't touch a tow like that. We have been called many times to do it and without a police report our truck stays parked.

Id review the lease agreement. I bet they snuck a clause in there about abandoned vehicles.

I’m not sure how Colorado is, but Arizona you can’t legally hold a car ransom over a bill, whether it’s mechanical, towing etc. Might want to call local police department and ask them.

Arizona views it as a civil case and advises you to file a mechanics lean to force a court appearance from both party’s. But you can’t legally hold someone’s property, that’s theft.

I just went through this with a customer that pulled a long term project from one shop to me, he pulled the car over a dispute in billing, and did so without paying 3k of the 23k bill. old shop owner was claiming theft and all kinds of BS, I got ahold of friend that’s local detective since I now have the car in my possession and a above is basically what he said.

The funny part is my fiancé went and got the Jeep. Even though it has to be released to someone on the registration. She had no proof of anything, just said she was there to pick up a red Jeep. So I’m going to call them later and say I’m coming to pick it up to see what they say

Oh yeah, that's another big problem. We don't release impounded vehicles without proof of ownership, current registration and insurance if it's supposed to drive out. Proof of ownership is making sure the registration has the same name of the person picking up the vehicle. I get many a pissed off person when I stick to those requirements and they can't prove it's their car I have. They get pissed but the reason we do that is to protect the person that owns the vehicle. Otherwise the first Tom, Dick or Harry that rolls up with the towing and storage fee can walk off with the car.

Funny thing is most of the time that's a problem some dope bought some POS car and hadn't made it to the county clerks office yet to get it registered in thier name. So they don't have squat and I can't give them the car. Many times all they have is an unsigned title.

No offense to you guys that tow and are honest, but around here I feel like they are nothing but vultures. I know some of the companies actually pay apartment and condo complexes for the right to patrol their parking lots looking for any excuse to tow a vehicle. Evidently it isn't illegal to hold a car ransom in utah because I know several people that have lost cars here due to "towing and storage fees" that got so high in just days that it made it impossible to get the car back.

Nothing like losing your vehicle over parking in the wrong spot. :angry1:

People fail to realize just how much torque management effects AND protects the trucks.

When you compare a Camaro SS tune to a truck tunes its super obvious. HPTuners has been a great investment for me personally.

I actually just tuned a similar Escalade a few days ago, and it left being able to burn all 4 tires till second gear, then promptly blew 3rd out of the 60e.

If you can't find it send your computer and I can do it. I made a nice bench harness setup that fits both style computers. That Cadillac has some serious power left on the table to prevent old folks from putting it into the wall. They run when just given a slight tune upgrade .

I still haven’t decided if I’m just going to swap in a 4l80 when I do the doubler, probably should...

Wish I would’ve started with my 6.2/6l80 Escalade I just don’t like the body on those.

And luckily the trans crossmember I made is long enough that it has room to move the trans mount for the 80, so no need to make a new mount.
